As a side note, the american quests appear to have a quest book with horizontal art. The European book art is vertical, and also different dimensions.

Sjeng wrote:the NA versions of KK and RotWL have cards you could cut out of the booklet. The UK versions do not.
But Ye Olde Inn has PDF's of all these cards, in both NA and UK format ;)

drathe wrote:There are also slight differences in the maps between the American and European editions. The American edition makes more use of furniture. The cover art is also different. The American version doesn't use the Les Edwards original, rather a remake. European version is a Green Box and American is purple.

I'd like to compile a detailed comparison between the two versions some day.

Beyond some minor Parchment text differences that mainly concern exit doors, there are some other gameplay differences:

  • Quest 1:
    No differences worth noting.
  • Quest 2:
The EU Spirit Riders defend with 3 dice and have 1 Body Point, but the NA version defend with 4 dice and have 3 Body Points.
Only the US chest has a trap.
Only the US tomb can destroy Borin's Armor or Orc's Bane.
  • Quest 3:
Only the NA version has 2 Magical Throwing Daggers which can be gotten from the trapped chest, while the other chest is removed to a seperate room.
Only the NA version places the Spirit Blade in the Tomb if it has been previously lost.
  • Quest 4:
Only the NA Agrain's laboratory contains the Fire of Wrath and Ball of Flame spell scrolls. The EU gems are each worth 100 gold coins, while the NA gems are each worth 200.
  • Quest 5:
The EU chests each contain 200 gold coins, while the NA chests each contain 500.
The EU Belathor has 1 Body Point and 4 Mind Points, while the NA version has 3 Body Points and 3 Mind Points.
  • Quest 6:
The EU version neglects to mention the Heroes start with full Body Points.
The EU version only mentions the Wizard regains his spells.
  • Quest 7:
The EU Skulmar has 1 Body Point and 5 Mind Points, while the NA version has 3 Body Points and 4 Mind Points.
Only the NA version awards the Rabbit Boots artifact and the Pass Through Rock spell scroll for killing Skulmar.
  • Quest 8:
Only the EU version has several rooms that start with open doors.
The EU east chest contains 350 gold coins and the north chest is empty, while the NA north chest contains 360 gold coins and the east chest is empty. The NA north chest also contains 2 Anti-poison Quill artifacts.
Only the NA version contains Heal Body and Courage spell scrolls in the sorcerer's table room.
Only the NA south east room contains a falling block trap. Also, only the NA version of the chest there is trapped with a poison needle (3 BP damage) and contains 2 shortswords and 2 longswords.
  • Quest 9:
The EU Doomguard Chaos Warriors have 1 Body Point and a movement of 7, while the NA Doomguard Chaos Warriors have 3 Body Points and a movement of 8.
The EU chest contains 250 gold coins, while the NA chest contains 240 gold coins and an Armband of Healing artifact.
The NA weapons rack room has an NA Doomguard Chaos Warrior, and the weapons rack contains 2 Magical Throwing Daggers. The EU version only has a regular Chaos Warrior.
The EU Kessandria has 1 Body Point and 6 Mind Points. She flees if attacked, and may use a Swift Wind spell. The NA Kessandria has 3 Body Points and 4 Mind Points. The NA version flees if her Body Points have been greatly reduced, and has a Potion of Speed she may use. The NA Kessandria also knows the Chaos spells Lightning Bolt, Tempest, Fear, Sleep, and Cloud of Chaos. Only the NA version correctly states she may open doors as she flees.
  • Quest 10:
The EU magical statues will break any magical or nonmagical weapon, while the NA statues will break any weapon but the Spirit Blade.
The EU Witch Lord has 1 Body Point and can only be harmed by the Spirit Blade and Fire magic. This version can randomly summon any monster in addition to his normal action in any turn (unless a figure isn't available that turn). The NA Witch Lord has 4 Body Points and can only be harmed by the Spirit Blade, the Fire of Wrath and Ball of Flame spells, and Magical Throwing Daggers. The NA Witch Lord can cast the Chaos spells Summon Undead, Firestorm, Tempest, Lighting Bolt, Fear, and Command.
