If they're thinner than the other cardstock that might be possible with my basic laminator.. but etching plastic I hadn't thought of. Hopefully they've appeared when I'm back home later this week

What about creating a gridded transparency overlay yourself? Check here to get you started, though you could also check out acrylic sheets or clear document folders. It's up to you, but personally I'd hate to see those originals permanently defaced.

I wish I had the skills to create my own tiles for my games and paint my minis. Right now I'm looking into making some for a Marines-vs-Xenos ruleset I'm working on—something like Space Hulk but with wider corridors. In the end, I guess that's why in most projects out there the guy in charge of making the rules work is rarely the same one doing the artwork.
