I absolutely hate the "fear of missing out" marketing strategy, and the fewer of us who fall for it the better.

As much as I would be curious, IF this is an exclusive/limited edition product, I won't be pre-ordering. And you can hold me to that right now. Retail please!

I do; I also remember not being able to buy most things as readily as you can these days, on account of not living in or having easy access to a major city.
There was also the issue of having to hope you'd luck out and be there the same day they had what you were after, or that the store could order it in for you.

I wouldn't go back; the modern net more than makes it easier to buy things these days.

Yeah but I remember in those days we still had telephones and could call a store to ask if they had a product in stock and how much it cost before leaving the house (phone books allowed us to look up businesses), so it's not like people couldn't buy nice things before Amazon got huge unless you lived in a major city. If that was you though I'm sorry...

Yes some things are easier these days. Lost packages, waiting for stuff that got delayed or goofed up by the seller or damaged in shipping, being gouged on prices, and other nonsense still happens. But it's not as if we can't have both. I imagine some people still are in places that don't have reliable high speed internet, but I guess they could shop with a smart phone (shudder). My argument is that if stuff can't be purchased in stores and has to be ordered online, that's actually less convenient than if most people, except those living in rural areas let's say, have to buy it online if they want it. Yeah gas prices are high right now but most of the time it's much nicer to be able to just walk into a local store, look at the product, browse, think about if you want it. We called it "window shopping" back in the day, as opposed to just looking at a picture online (yeah, or a sponsored video in most cases) and having it arrive a week later.

HeroQuest was one of those games that was everywhere in its heydey. We didn't live in a major area and we still got it in a store back in the day. Even so, let's say you had to travel a little bit to get to your destination to buy the big Christmas gift, okay, but we're not talking about your dad bringing it back from his overseas business trip just maybe that it wasn't available at the local gas station mart. Maybe you had to go to Toys R' Us to get it instead of just local mom & pop toy store.

But being mainstream is how it ought to be... if they were aiming to make HeroQuest a niche product, then they failed, because it was never intended to be a niche product for collectors and elite painters. It certainly wasn't back in the day, in fact that was the whole point of its existence! They're still working towards that goal and the supply chain nonsense is the only thing holding it back, supposedly.

Just to inform you that remake's Return of the Witch Lord questbook PDF file is already available for free download in Hasbro's Products Instructions official website.

Good news, this quest seems to have a well done design for begginers. However, I think a Ring of Fortitude is a too much powerful artifact for a first quest.

I opened this new thread for related discussions about this new free official quest.

Thanks to everyone who alerted me to this new quest! Zargon still has the final say in these adventures. Keep in mind they'll be playing The Trial right after, most likely which is a very hard quest to start with.

Zargon seems to loosely answer again in Twitter about Against the Ogre Horde remake´s expansion... by now just pure speculation but here is the link for those ones interested:

https://twitter.com/heroquest/status/15 ... F_SA8ghWHU

Past 18th of October also mentioned the "Ogre" word:

https://twitter.com/AlgothAybara/status ... DDQkHfIULk

Maybe he is just refering to future "Mage of the Mirror" ogres? Or could be OTHER ogres? Time will say.

Time to start sending them that Mage of the Mirror errata/suggestions list, eh? Somebody with Twitter, please share it with him...

Re: Heroquest remake by Hasbro - The BIG discussion thread

Postby Infje » April 13th, 2022, 9:03 am

I was reading Game Informer when they mentioned this remake. I've been out of the game for a decade, so imagine my surprise. However, I've been Googling and it seems it's not possible to buy for people in the EU? I live in The Netherlands and I can't even view the campaign page due to it tracking my location and redirecting me to the main page instead. Of course there are ways around that, but still no option to actually buy anything.

Any suggestions?
