Hello Krautscientist, my "Inn-iversary" is coming up and I told myself that I want to finish painting my set until then. I got only the gargoyle, chaos sorcerer and furniture left could you please share how you achieved that insane wood effect on your alchemist table and what colours you used if you still remember??? And how you achieved this super realistic metal look on your tables? They look exactly like your key you often post.

The metal effect is quite easily explained: The metal was basecoated with GW Leabelcher, then given a heavy (!!!) wash with Army Painter Dark Tone (with just a tiny bit of Vallejo Smoky Ink added in for an ever so slight brownish, rusty note -- that part is optional, though). After everything was well and dry (!), I just went back in with the original Leadbelcher and added some small scratches, highligted the corners, stuff like that.

As for the wood, hmm, let me think. I guess the recipe went something like this:

1.) undercoat with GW Mournfang Brown spray
2.) basecoat with Vallejo Parasite Brown - this was key because the tone of the brown is really, really close to the wood colour used in the cardboard parts!
I also really went to town on the piece with the Parasite Brown, brushing and stippling it on with a coarse drybrush, thereby creating quite a bit of texture on the plastic. This helped later!
3.) Give the whole area a wash with Army Painter Strong Tone.
4.) Drybrush the corners with a mix of Parasite Brown and white. If you have managed to create a bit of texture during step 2.), also lightly (!!!) drybrush the surface, so it picks up just the tiniest bit of the lighter colour.
5.) Use a thinned-down lighter brown (I think I used GW Steel Legion Drab with just a tiny drop of yellow added in, but don't quote me on this) to freehand-paint on some woodgrain.

I think that's about it. Hope this helps!
