Some thoughts (not necessarily universal truths), on the increasing costs of collecting vintage HQ...

Could be a current trend I suppose, but it's also a fact that with every year that passes, the number of complete games or even good condition parts, is going to decrease, thus making them rarer items. Surely sellers will take advantage of that. A couple of decades can be hard on games made largely of paper and cardboard, especially since many copies were likely (or initially) owned by kids.

I don't know that we can blame this trend on GZ specifically.

Another interesting point could be, that increased interest in/awareness of HQ could be due in part to the proliferation of Dungeon-crawlers in recent years. It's hard not to find discussions of other games lead to contrast and comparison treatment with HQ at some point.

But bottom line, it's an old game and I think in some collectible markets 25 years is something of a milestone.

Again, just my thoughts on this.

maj!

Don't despair. Unless you are supremely anal about having 'original' pieces you can proxy them very easily. All the information is here for your use. Is that kind of money really worth it to you? If you had gobs and gobs (not goblins) of money it wouldn't be any issue but I doubt any of us have that kind of money to drop just because we want to.
