The "bridged size" ones I ordered are noticeably bigger than the original cards. So either your version has different sized cards to mine or the "bridge size" is different.

Just make sure you measure your hero quest cards and check the measurements against the ones you are buying.

I had a quick look at MPC, that is the one you used; correct? And I saw the templates they have for the various size and shapes of cards. So I was wondering; Did you have to send in a separate PDF for each card? Or did you set them up in some other program and send them multiple files? Either way, how tricky was it to communicate to the company what you needed?

Every card is uploaded as a seperate pdf file that has to fit their suggested template that you can download to show the size, bleed areas, cutting areas etc.
you can select for the back of each cad to use 1 file, or you can make each one different like i did, so you can do all the cards in 1 pack...

I did each card separate in photo shop, flattened the images and then exported as a pdf for uploading to the printer.

It takes a while, but you can preview each card front and back before you submit your order.

Are you sure they accept pdf? Because I'm looking now and it looks like they only take jpg, png, bmp, gif, and tiff. Am I missing something? Is pdf a file type they accept but it isn't listed?

You are correct. I saved a copy of each from photoshop as a JPEG. And uploaded them. Not pdf

I think I may be missing something here. Do you have your own house rules posted somewhere? Or you using Slev's revisions? Slev has an awesome revised rule book, along with card files available for download. I was thinking of using those. Are yours different? Compatible?

Those are not my cards (which I hope to update once my recent arm injury is sorted), but they do have a lot of the same ideas.

Hmmm now I'm curious about comparing everybody's house ruleset. Looks like there's more than one who put some real thought into beefing up HQ. If I was more bookishly-inclined, I'd love to take everybody's rules and compare and contrast. Then vote on the best aspects of everybody's rules, borrow, and compile into the ultimate über rules. I'm vibing they're fairly similar anyway...Oh, and use all the non-duplicated cards from everybody's custom decks and conform them to the über rules. That would be an awesome project. Which I will never do.

There was an initiative over in another thread called "Advancement - how to do it?" regarding the conglomeration, in an easy-to-locate all-in-one source, of pretty much the entire forum's collective houserules. I don't think anything conclusive was ever published there, but between Big Bene, Daedalus and a few others they managed to hammer out a table contents for anyone who wanted to actually try to do it.

The problem with this sort of thing, however, is simply the opportunity cost in time. If you have a ruleset of your own, any time spent compiling other people's houserules is time not spent hammering away on your own. Even I am no exception - I am currently trying to focus on making more of my own Quests and thus don't have as much interest in writing the Advancement Compendium. Put more simply, it's a great idea, but not a high priority.

I did something in this vein with HeroQuest Prime. I literally took houserules from a couple dozen people, applied some mental glue to get them to play nicely together, and then added some of my own house rules as icing on the franken-cake.

While it doesn't encompass all the houserules ever created (because that way lies madness (and incompatibility)), it does add a LOT of granularity and feels much closer to an RPG than a boardgame.
