I could use The Game Crafter to make a "game" that is nothing but 20mm circular shards that have custom graphics on them.

Here is the type of product.
https://www.thegamecrafter.com/publish/ ... ircleShard

Its not like a regular store. You have to assemble a "game" that you can buy, or that you can put up for others to buy. For instance, I needed replacement parts for Space Crusade, because the copy I bought off of a local here wasn't nearly complete. I made a game that was just 20mm square tiles, and nothing else, that could only be purchased by me. It cost seven dollars or so, after shipping. With satisfactory graphics, I could make a game called Heroes' Gold that is nothing but game coins. 70 coins is plenty (if they're of several types).

Cool resource. Personally, I'd like them more if they were printed on thicker stock, making them easier to handle. Still, the work is done and they look great. I think cardstock is the right choice for the Hero Quest look.

Some other threads on money tokens:

Piazo's Campaign Coins--not so Hero Questy, but usable and easy enough to produce:

An alternative to Campaign Coins that is a bit less pricey (30 coins for $15):

My wife is occasionally working on making HQ-themed coin graphics to use with the coins. I'll put them up here for review as they are completed.

I looked at campaign coins, and I fail to see the problem. Gold is pretty expensive these days, and while they don't list the actual troy weight of each coin, eighty cents for a gold coin is a steal. You could pawn that immediately for a pretty good turnaround...
Unless they're not real gold... but I didn't see that written there!

This would be the way to go, I could do the graphics as well.
Only thing is, the "shards" look damn thin on the photo.

This site is a great source of gaming materials.
Have a look ;)

thats an interesting take on the game, i never thought of using coins to represent the gold. you could always buy the cheap plastic gold coins and paint some silver and some copper or bronze for the different values

I don't know about your table space during a game, but even with my great dining table our games get pretty jumbled up with HQ crap everywhere. Personally, I would just stick with writing it down. But that's my personal view. Even with D&D I wouldn't consider it.
