I am curious. Are your Fimir spells going to be the same as the ones Made by Flint/Sjeng, or your own?

Yes and yes.

Let me clarify. I will be going over the spells that are already in place, determine if they fit the theme/power level/quality I'm looking for, and adjust accordingly. Most likely what will happen is, I will take the concept of a spell(s) and reword it so it fits the HeroQuest Prime ruleset better. This is the process I used for Dewayne Agin's spell colleges (amethyst, gold, grey, etc.). I cherry-picked from all of them so I could boil them down to the groups I finally came up with.

To be fair, however, the current Fimir deck is formatted for the UK layout. So even if I were to use the entire thing whole cloth with no changes, I'd still want to redo it for US layout anyway.

And to further clarify, the Fimir deck is the only spell group for which I don't have the spells already written down or finalized yet. All the rest are already in the HQP document and available for reading now.

Thanks, man! She's doing much better now, and mine, well... mine's not set yet. Who knows when that will be.

And it's funny you should post to this thread today. I was busy working on a bunch of card backs and will post them up here tomorrow when I get a chance. I think the community will really like them. I'm not too sold on one or two of them, and would like feedback as appropriate. :)

Here is the complete collection of all spell card backs that will be used in HeroQuest Prime! I would like some feedback about what you think works, what doesn't work, and any suggestions for improving anything. Thanks.
Immediately, you may notice that some of the cards I had shown earlier in this thread I have redone here with original Gary Chalk art that I have colored.

For the curious, spell scrolls fall under Artifacts; while Mercenaries, Armory, and Potions will all get their own colorful graphic instead of cards.

Even though the original Game System did not do it this way, I'm contemplating adding a banner on the Monster card back, just to keep it consistent with everything else.

Ya know......I really think I like all of those.

If I really nit-pick I'd question the distinction between Darkness / Night. But that's only semantics. I think by and large they all fit the HQ theme and themselves nicely. This is odd, but the only ones that seem out of place is the Ice spell (I think that's only because it's a picture with a setting more at a distance than the others) and the "normal" HQ Cards. I'd almost have them drop the typical backs and use a custom back for those Elemental groups.

I'm really excited to see the finished spells with their art. I could totally see printing out a set to use as expanded spells for the various spell casters to use in regular HQ as well as HQP.

Hopefully once I get the cards done that difference will be made clear.

Funny how that works out, right? It almost seems like the original cards need to be updated to better fit this collection. But well, I'm not gonna do that. ;)

As far as the Ice spell...that image was the only picture I could find that had a cold or ice theme to it. I think it fits well enough for now. On the off-chance that I happen to find a better Chalk image, I'll think about updating it. But for now, I think it's good. :)

I'm really excited to see the finished spells with their art. I could totally see printing out a set to use as expanded spells for the various spell casters to use in regular HQ as well as HQP.

Thanks! Now I need to go through a bunch more images and match them with the dozens of spells so I can print out pages of cards to show off here. :P

A friendly member of our community pointed me to a site that had a bunch of Gary Chalk images that he used for a different project. I just cribbed the image directories for my own use. :)

By the way, I went ahead and updated the Monster card.
