I'm still in! My apologies for the extended absence, regular life stuff has kept me crazy busy the last few months :? Hopefully I can catch up and still help out. For what's its worth, arc 1 seems like it has a better structure for a large project with a lot of moving parts and helping hands. Any thoughts on how the final arc decision will be made? Poll? Seems like there has been ample time for alternate suggestions :2cents:

This is the bark of the trees that grow in the ruins of Kamak-Tor, a lost dwarven city, where long ago raged a battle so fierce, that entire armies of dwarves and orcs and goblins were slain there. The blood of thousands flowed into the city's lake, and has coloured it red. Nothing lives in it anymore, and only the most resilient of trees draw water from the lake, turning their leaves and bark into a dark red. It is rumoured some orcs dwell there still, so beware!

Q4: The last ingredient is not a plant, but something far more difficult to obtain: the poison of a gorgon. In a dark forest to the east, within the ruins of an ancient temple, snakemen and dragonkin are said to dwell. According to local folklore, their matriarch is a gorgon. It has never been confirmed though, as nobody who ever ventured near the temple has ever returned. You must find the gorgon, if she exists, and take the poison from her snakelike hair.

I really liked these 2 ideas as I can actually picture how these quests would look.

Kamak Tor could include lake tiles that act as spawn points for undead Orcs (or even dwarfs :? ).

Battles with Gorgon's are always fun. Gotta go looking for that mirrored shield first. It's not hard for me to imagine how a quest with a gorgon might look as I have already written one.

Arc 1 appeals to me more but I think that is because of the three different paths (Q4-Q18). I would definitely limit the Heroes to following only one of the 3 paths as this opens up the possibility of the Heroes decisions actually affecting what happens in the final 7 quests.

We could always kinda mix them up, and instead of artefacts, have the ingredients + locations. Or better yet: gather the artefacts (better weapons for all 4 heroes) AND gather the ingredients for the potion that will make the endboss vulnerable to these weapons. We have plenty of space to add everything in.

So is the it set in stone that there will be 25 quests? If so this is quite ambitious. I recommend making the lead following 5 quest threads reletively short but without time to rest until all 5 of a chain are completed.

This may have been discussed already, but is this intended for a new group, or old veteran heroes with all the artifacts? What's the difficulty level?

I think this is a very good idea. Make five "chapters" of individual storylines.
Making ONE big story where everything is thought through and fluent is hard. It will be much easier to create shorter more compact stories.
It will also be easier to have individuals or teams of 2-3 persons make five quests, than one single huge common project.

And the ideas from the previous "big storyline" can still be recycled.

+1 vote for doing it this way.

Personally I think this should be with "fresh" heroes in mind. I kinda see this HQ25 as an alternative Game System.

- Hey you wanna play some HeroQuest?
- - Naah, we've played through the quest book soo many times!
- Let's play HQ25 then!
- - Allright yo!

edit:
Also I volunteer to do a painting for the book cover and to try and make some Gary Chalk-look-alike drawings for any new cards. I strongly assume we will not be using any pre-existing materials for this project!
I think this is where I will shine the most |_P (Not meaning I wont pitch in with other tasks...)
