They don't necessarily. The EU rules were meant as a competition amongst the heroes, from what I understand anyway. US version is more of a cooperation, but depends on the player, right?![]()
Well with that idea I was thinking that it would just be the heroes, no monsters at all. The board could be all laid out at the with various treasure chests dotted about that have a random outcome if they're opened. You could still have automated monsters, either placed on the board at the start or randomly appearing in rooms. Of course there could be a DM. That way there could be secret doors dotted about that can only be searched for if there's no rival heroes in sight so they're easily missed. You could do it with teams as well.
