I'm almost never polite, first off.

Second, Gamezone is literally stealing.

Last, "Fawlty."

I don't think this will there after Xmas when the big companies get back to work.
Would you buy this if it was a "Quarter century tribute add on for HeroQuest"? No rules, no quests, no board, no screen, just the plastic and cards. Like some of you already pointed out, they do make nice minis.

I don't follow your point. Are you ridiculing them or advocating the nature of their position?

The stats on the blog aren't the only ones that show how strong our Spanish community is here at Ye Olde Inn. As you can see in the screens below, Spain is 5th in pageviews and 3rd in visits.

Image

Image

Let's try and not alienate them. We're all fans of this great game and we're all a source of new ideas for it. As Maike05 said, and I too agree that I wouldn't want the great community we've built here to be perceived as jerks.

I like the idea of creating a letter from our community with questions about our collective concerns on the 25th anniversary crowdfunding project. If everyone with concerns comes forward with questions to include, I will personally forward the letter to Dionisio of GameZone Miniatures in an attempt to gain the answers you all seek.

Although GameZone has not asked to consult our community here at Ye Olde Inn on the project, Dionisio himself did approach me in mid-November and had some kind words for our fair community.

Dionisio from GameZone Miniatures wrote:Hello

My name is Dionisio, owner of Gamezone Miniatures. I should have contacted you long ago. But, It was hard to find a way to contact you without spamming on your site.

Excuse me if I'm roughly direct. I would like to know if you want to cooperate on Heroquest 25th anniversary, in some way.

It's a fact that your site is THE reference about HQ. I've looked out your page countless times. I want to share with you what we are doing and planning. I find essential consulting someone like you.

I wondering if you may take active part. I understand if not, for any reason. Is so, let me ask you what do you think is the appropiate person?

Hasta pronto.

Dionisio

I did respond to his email, asking for clarification on exactly what he was asking of me, as truth be known, I didn't quite understand. I received this response shortly thereafter:

Dionisio wrote:External consultant’s role, that’s what I asking you. Taking part to check alpha version of rules and contents.

Please feel free to ask me anything about HQ25th. I will share with you full information of. Just let me know what are you curious about.

I recently realize that info strategy of this project causes a significant scepticism about it, on USA and Canada, while same strategy causes a big hype here on Europe. That’s unexpected to me, so much diferent reactions.

I will answer your questions, gladly.

Dionisio

These communications were made prior to the initial Kickstarter attempt. I have not received word from Dionisio after informing him that he may consult with me should he feel the need to. But as stated in his email, I am free to ask him anything about HQ25th. Therefore I will forward your questions to him on behalf of the Ye Olde Inn community.

But please be polite and respectful as you would/should be to any member of our community here.

There does seem to be a lot of negative toward the project in this thread. Perhaps this is due to the quiet nature of those excited about the project being afraid to voice their views? Everyone at Ye Olde Inn should feel free to voice their opinion on the project, positive or negative as long as it respects the rules of the forum.

I do see some great positive potential in this project. If GameZone does have the rights to HeroQuest in Spain beyond the name itself, such as a green-light from Hasbro Spain, it could in fact positively influence Big Hasbro in the United States should we here at Ye Olde Inn wish to do something similar. Or at the very least, request permission from Hasbro to keep the game alive via fan-made content provided such content is released as non-profit*. If GameZone does well, it may also influence an actual re-release of HeroQuest itself, making those damned, overly expensive quest packs more affordable. (I do however believe that Hasbro won't budge on a re-release, but who knows for sure?)

*any possible sale would only cover costs of printing and distributing fan-made quest books and the continued maintenance of this Website.

This all totally indicates that there were approximately 20 Spanish returning visitors and about 35 first-timers. Approximately 2 returning visitors and 3 first-timers visited the forums.

The numbers indicate that one or two members from Spain visited here to spy on our ideas. Yeah, I'm the Grinch. Sue me.

I'm all for HQ being released but as many have pointed out with C&D letters and this being the 3rd crowdfunding attempt it makes it quite unprofessional. I added the posts about its % progress trying to remain somewhat optimistic and checking back its at 140% funded. If this does see finalization I'd love to be in on it because it is turning into a good backing already. With 47 days left I'll wait another month before really looking into it with serious intentions. Hard to stay excited after several simple problems that could or should have been avoided. I'm just saying that they may not get a C&D because the company this time seems to have gone with a spanish company and should according to them have all right to do it because they have the rights/authorization. If that being the case why not have gone this route initially instead of overstepping their bounds the first few go-arounds.

TL;DR - Hard to keep enthusiasm after let downs and grievous grammatical errors.

I think the few minis ive seen look great I like the stretch goals they had on kickstarter if not the way they revealed them. drathe you might have told us twenty or so pages earlier in this thread that you had contact with gamezone since to me the biggest source of resentment on here was that members felt they should have been consulted. I pledged on kickstarter I would really like to get my hands on this game if its made but I won't get it via crowd funding that ship has sailed for me I hope I can order it someday but we'll see I doubt it gets made. I think gamezone has balls for continuing to push to get this done they are risking their whole business if they end up getting sued by one of the big companies I wish them luck and hope they succeed but I will not be risking my money till the game is made. I find it funny that people get mad about gamezone trying to do this there are tons of members on this site that profit off of making heroquest items be it recasts of minis, 3d replacement furniture and tiles, painting services, modded minis, custom cards and quests, passing off other games minis as hq [look at ebay I know some of those sellers are members on here] its not everyone but lets not be hypocrites if you've spent money on any of those what's the difference with what gamezone is trying to do? at least they have the balls to do it publicly :2cents:

“There is a third risk we were not able to foresee: a sector of the hobby is opposed to this project. Although most is based on misinformation, it is real enough that some fans have chosen to actively stand against the project, even boycott. It is quite disheartening to see these views from our position, with accurate data and information in our hands. We are aware that their influence is great, but not enough to cripple the project. Moreover, we hope you will see what we do to change their minds and, ultimately, when the game is finally done, have them as more customers.”

I hope to see what they will do to change my mind.

Referring to us (indirectly and shying away from pointing to anyone specific; because of the comments on yeoldeinn in the message to drathe we can safely establish that indeed we are meant) in this statement instead of contacting us with exactly this sorrow expressed therein means they want to win over the parties reading their comment - not us. Think about that.
