Just noticed that.. I guess they didn't go through proper procedures. Even after stating they did. Hmm. Proof they be exactly cashing off our classic? Think I will pass on this kickstarter now. :)

A bit more detail in the email to those who have pledged:

This is a message from Kickstarter Support. We're writing to inform you that a project you backed, Heroquest 25th Anniversary, is the subject of an intellectual property dispute.
The project has been removed from public view until the dispute is resolved, which can take up to 30 days. The project’s funding and the countdown to its deadline have been stopped. If the project becomes available again, the countdown will continue and the new deadline will extend past the original deadline for as much time as the project was unavailable. You can find out more by reading our Copyright Policy and our Trademark Policy.
Original deadline: Friday Dec 27, 6:00pm EST
Time remaining if project becomes available: 29 days
Your pledge is currently still active. If you’d like to manage your pledge or reach out to the creator directly, you can still do so through the project page

Day one, I asked them if there would be any IP problems (with GW or anyone else). I'm sure I wasn't the only one to ask it... everyone's first response on hearing about it was "Wow! Wait, won't GW sue?" But no, they assured me: all that is sorted out, there will be no dispute.

Hmm.

I think it's a safe bet that the dispute is with GW?

But even if they are suing/seize and desist-ing, they aren't necessarily right. It's not uncommon for big companies to just do this as a default response.
Often the target will just obey without much questioning rather than risk a costly trial - which they might end up loosing regardless.

Buuuuut, I think this was the end...

Same here, they even stated that they hold all they need to in spain, maybe it has something to do with the game being published/sent out from spain, I mean, they were using Canadian dollars? Instead of the currency in spain aswell. That was something that really gave me the cheese.

Spain and Canada are 2 of 3 western countries where piracy is legal. Coincidence?

I told you.

Actually, I'm glad this happened. I hope GZ will realise they do NOT have any rights to produce "official" HQ games at all. And perhaps create their own dungeon crawler spinoff, named entirely different, on ks. That I would fully support, even if I won't back it. Backers were bound to see their money disappear on this one.

I can sleep peacefully again.
