The hands are taken from GW skellies.
Description as given on my website:
Fantasy-Miniatures wrote:Barebone Skeletons are the backbone of our production (pun intended).
The idea is, that, while there are many producers out there making fine and stylish skeletons with detailed skulls and arms, the ribcages are still solid blocks and the pelvis and legs look like made from elephant bone. In fact, they are just as thick as those of figures of heavy mercenaries, with all flesh and clothes. But most annoying are the solid ribcages, on wich the ribs are merely sculpted in relief.
Our Skeletons have a complete hollow ribcage with real, separate ribs! You can see through our skeletons!
Our Barebone Skeletons are just the basic skeleton torso, without arms or heads, but with nice, "bony" legs, and our trademark "real" ribcage. Customers can add to this skulls and arms from other producers and so get nice, realistic skeletons for an affordable price, and, moreover, benefit from the great variety of pieces the market has to offer. The picture above shows the Barebone Skeletons combined with arms and Skulls from a leading British manufacturer.

The Barebone skeletons were designed to fit the size of the new skeleton warriors from GW, not the old ones, which are much more "chubby". But I just had many arms of the old GW skeletons and used them on some of the Barebones, which resulted in the effect you describe.

Nice to see you like the Neverending Story. It's my favorite book and in my opinion the best book ever written. It really changed my life when I read it at age 13.
Have a look ;)

It was huge here when I was a kid. Sadly nobody knows about it now. I've asked tons of people and most have no clue what I'm talking about. I didn't read the book till I was an adult. Good read but wouldn't call it mindblowing. Would have loved it a lot more as a kid I'm sure. I've made that 'They look like big strong hands' reference before and people just give me weird looks. Only once has someone known it and they loved it. Keep up the work on skellies as they look nice being able to see through them.

Your skellies are looking good BB. Can I nit pick on one thing? Their Hands! Are they meant to be that large?, bigger than their head?
I had to include it...

the heroquest wizards hands are bigger than his head too!
infact with 28mm you have to exagerate some features because if it was true 28mm scale it would look wrong, ankles would be stupidly thin and stuff like that. as a miniature you need to have certain aspects that make it look like a miniature figure. and keep it holding some value as a character rather than a replication of

Just make sure they don't have kankles...

Has anyone else noticed &'s signature? A selfless aim at boosting his own rating, and I like it. Who else is going to join in so we get another cool mini?

Maybe I should only agree to cast the barbarian if i get extra +50 twitter followers  Digital extortion here

Mmm bases, I just have to smooth off the plain base a bit before the final mould. This is a job for my lung shredding fiberglass brush |_P
