Since tryin my hand at sculpting ive found myaelf studying the human facial structure quite a lot. This should however be restricted to google searches and not at 5pm on a jam packed rush hour train with some girl stood a foot away on packed train who has 'nice structure' to herface. So far i think ive managed to not look like some pervert lol

I think.....

You can always claim that your an artist and would like to study her 'bone structure' and see her reaction. I mean there's nothing sexual about that comment at all... Anywhere...

Once you start learning new things you notice stuff you never did before. Same thing happened to me when having to grade the sloping around me house. I started noticing all the high and low spots in the streets and see the sloping on everything. It was really weird. Anyways ask her if she'd be interested in 'bone structure analysis' with you and report her reaction.

When driving long distances through forests and mountains, I've starting noticing how the light hits everything and the way the color changes from the recesses to the highlights. Different light from dawn to dusk and season changes. I'm always thinking, "How could I paint 'such and such' to get 'whatever affect I'm seeing'."

For me it's stockings. I saw the painting clinic on YouTube where he showed how to paint see through clothes/stockings. Now I can't stop starring.

No, when it's painted in stockings it's a sexy mini. But I'm not a fanboy.
The only slightly sexy minis I have are some alternative witch elves and female heroes.
I like the 1600mm scale much better.

You know that "color saturation" thing I'm always going on about?

1 - Go here: http://colorschemedesigner.com/
2 - Choose your base color--you said "trees," so let's go with some kind of green. I picked RGB #0CC00.
3 - Click on the bottom tab 'Adjust Scheme.' Click in the dialog box marked "-custom-", and pick "Medium Dark (Saturated)."
4 - In the above area where you see the circular scheme types, click the one marked 'Triad."
Image
5 - Collect paints matching your final color scheme--it will be depicted in the upper right.
6 - Base object you want to pain in black, and then heavy drybrush the dark green, medium drybrush the magenta, light drybrush the orange, and then feather the last green.
7 - Add white feathering to increase opacity or Ink wash purple to decrease it, and increase contrast.

That is your color scheme for creating depth.
