At least paint the eyes red, then you you can play "AlbinoQuest"

I like that suggestion. Actually made me laugh because I knew someone that was albino and it made think of him, really funny guy. I do think that painting them adds something to the game that non-painted minis are lacking. Heck, for that matter even mass produced pre-painted minis don't have what painted minis do. It's more than simply the paint. Even the few of mine that were painted brought a whole lot more to HQ when my group and I played.

Hoping finishing the :elf: & :wizard: base coating today. I actually looked at all the detail on a few I thought about painting and have decided to back away from that ambitiousness. I'll wait till a have few more minis under my belt, then I'll try one of the more detailed minis.

WIP right now. Still needs a few base touchups and highlight but it's coming along. Really happy with it so far and hope to get it finished this weekend. Just had to give the wizard some love; he certainly doesn't get any while playing  . Sorry about photo quality. This one is pretty bad, even for me.

Got better photos and I do declare him finished. Just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the base he's on and how to paint it. Now I'm searching on how to do some camo painting. Got a friend to say he'd game if I paint him a character in fatigues. Anyone have any suggestions? The wizard seemed the most logical one to do camo on but I wanted to do a necro conversion for my last one. Would it be too ostentatious to make a dwarf wear fatigues? The next logical alternative would be the Elf.

I like the emerald for the ring. It came out much better than I thought it would and then used it on the front of his cape-holder-things.

I've painted my first Bones mini today. I fitted it with a HQ base first, which worked out nicely :)
The paintjob though... I don't know... I looked up some references of the Reaper website, but those pro paintjobs just blew me away and got me a bit depressed. The detail and shading on those is insane. I have trouble even seeing such details.
And as such I'm not 100% happy atm. to be honest I think it's horrible... I wanted to add some Quickshade on it, so the details would come out better, but my wife aksed me to wait and see if I might add some touches to make it better first.

Thoughts?

When it is done, I will add some quickshade to preserve the paint, and then some flock on the base (moss).

I think it's a bit too bright coloured, so quickshade will definitely help.

Nice work there IB. The shades and highlights are really working nicely for you mate. The gloss on the jewels is a nice touch too. Keep them coming IvenBach, your doing pretty damn good.

The gloss isn't anything special that I've done. I painted it on and it dried with that shiny appearance to it. I'm afraid the varnish will take its cool shinyness away . I actually haven't done any shading on it at all. Just the base coat and then simple highlights with something of a transition so it isn't a dark blue with a sky blue on top. For the hero's I don't think I'll shade them, except maybe the Barbarian. The brighter colors appeal to me as them standing for the 'good & virtuous' whatnot. I'm still not able to come to a conclusion on how to do any of the bases. That's the one thing that's holding me back from varnishing what I've just-about-finished. Sent my friend the link to the photo and he said it looked OK. When we played this past weekend and I told him to look at it he said it looks better in person. Too much detail on the photo showing imperfections that aren't normally identifiable.

I wouldn't go out and say that of myself yet. They certainly are better than what I have done previously. Pushing what little ability I have to go for more each time I'm painting.

I'm going to work on the vermin set from my reaper. What's peoples opinion of doing one like this?

I'd like to have it look menacing but at the same time want it to be somewhat realistic, as much so as a medium to large sized dog of a spider would be.
