Jon Usiak - New Tile Artist and Debut Tile

Postby drathe » November 29th, 2008, 11:47 pm

3d Modeller/Conceptual Artist Jonathan Usiak has designed his first tile for HeroQuest.

Jon hopes to improve his skills and make better tiles in the future. In my opinion, they're fantastic as they are. Check out his debut tile at Ye Olde Inn by clicking the image above. There is also a link to his Website where you can check out his great talent. There are a few of his HeroQuest monster icons displayed at the bottom of his personal art page in his Illustration section too.

Oh I poke, prod, and drop all kinds of hints.

At least there's a new tile! Two actually. A happy holidays gift from Jon. Check out Jon's Tile Page.

Two more great tiles by Jon are available. These tiles are remakes of old tiles he designed but never made public, not part of his 'monthly' tile releases. The Long Room and Quad Room are a great new way to shake up the board layout! Check'em out!

Looking good, these might come in handy in finishing my Quest that's been in progress for nearly 2 years...

They're quite versatile. Especially the Quad Room.

It can be used as is:

Or cut along the white wall and change a room creating even more options:

This one will turn a 4x4 room into one 4x2 and two 2x2.

This one will turn a 4x4 room into an L shaped room and a 2x2 room.

Plop these suckers into bigger rooms like the 4x5 and centre room and you have even more options available.

UPDATE:
You can also use the new Double Room tile.

Ooh, no more having to use furniture or blocked wall tiles to create the illusion of a smaller "secret" room within a larger room. Nice.

I am sure we are all up for a cleaner/greener world. In my letterbox yesterday, was a flyer from a Home Insulation Company, and I felt the cover was asking to be turned into an add-on room. What do you think? I will give you the benefit of my own thoughts in due course.

No thinkers? here is my idea. "The Fires of Hades". Hero arrives on the secret door tile, transported there from another similar tile, in another room. Directly opposite is an ordinary door. Mentor says " You enter this room, and are enveloped in choking green smoke. You cannot see your way ahead. Roll one red dice to move ahead, then roll again, for your next turn. 1-3 turn left, 4-6 turn right. Turn your Hero to face the correct way. If you have landed on a square with any trace of red in it, roll one combat dice, if a skull you lose one body point, due to the fires & fumes. If you reach a wall, or other obstacle, such as a Monster, stop & roll a red dice for next turn, left-right. A 6 at the start reaches door out."
No reason why Monsters should not enter the room on Morcars turn, and normal attack-defend sequences. I have attached the tile picture so that it can be printed, then squares added of a size to suit ones board.
