So much appreciation...

Postby Highlander » May 2nd, 2013, 12:49 pm

Hello all, just wanted to show my appreciation to everyone here! I was 12 when I started playing in 92 and loved it but had trouble finding players until I was about 17 and they wanted more AD&D. In 99 my entire game was ruined when my room/garage was flooded in a storm. I didn't know the box had gotten wet until months later, when I had some friends that wanted to play and I pulled it out. Every paper piece was destroyed with black mold. I ended up only being able to save just one of the wall block tiles. I did however save all of the plastic pieces and thinking one day it might be possible to fix... I have a 14 year old son and he has a couple of friends that are getting into RPGs, plus my old D&D buds are still around and I have been threatening for years to fix this game and make everyone play. And thanks to to a couple of sites (mostly this one) I have been able to reproduce everything I lost save the game box. I just finished 2 weeks ago. Although not the greatest (glues and choices of paper aren't the greatest) But above all its definitely playable and now everyone around me are becoming obsessed with the game. I would have popped in here sooner but I really had no time and I was consumed with finishing it before I lost interest and it sat for another few years. The only part I am missing from my original game is one door stand. Thanks to everyone here who has contributed to this project!!! |_P

Hi and a warm welcome to the Inn :)

Good to see you've been able to complete your game again through the efforts of the good people of the HQ community :D
I've posted pictures of the (Dutch) game box on the forum, for drathe to eventually put on the site, so you might even get to recreate the box. But I suggest you build your own box.

I warmly welcome you. :) Sorry to hear about your game getting all messed up, but happy to know about your interest in the game and making all the paper pieces yourself. Hoping to see many of your ideas for making the game better. :)

Several of my minis were broken (what else are little bros for but breaking your stuff), most I was able to glue back except for a missing part of the gargoyle's helmet, the wizard's hand, and the candle sticks (I think prof plum stole them). I am toying with starting my own spin casting so I may have to splurge on a good set from Ebay to make good quality castings. Not sure if I want to lose an arm and a leg to get them though...

Just fix them by modding them. You can get spare bits easily, and you could mold the gargoyles head and copy a spike with greenstuff or milliput. Check the blog in my sig for candles.

I've done some of that already, but if I am going to do casts in pewter I would like them to be as perfect as possible without glue or crack lines..,
