I guess, as far as how the characters know each other, I should give a little direction.
here are some ideas on how we can start - this should get some thoughts going on how the
characters got together:
- The game will start with you coming off a sailing vessel, from down the coast - you'll see
a lot of wooden signs and parchment postings for "help needed" from adventurers -
probably stuff like "someone was kidnapped", "some goblins raided", etc.
- The game will start with you being sent out from your village by the village elders - they
say it's time for you to find your way in the world, that you've learned as much as you can
from the elders and teachers in your community - you know that, nearby, there is an
Adventurers Hall - you decide to start there

I'm thinking of start you off with around 1,000 gold, perhaps. I'm still thinking on it.

Right now - I'm thinking about starting you two out with between 2,000 and 3,000 gold.
I'm in the process of making a good list of magical items.
Any of the items under the Equipment Page of the rules site will be available.
I will try to have the magical item list up by monday - for all of those items, you will
have to roll to see if they are available. For any item you might want, there is a chance
it will be available - roll 1d6 - if a 1 or 6 is rolled, you can buy it.

Don't worry about hiring mercenaries right now - I'll be playing a couple of "helpers" that will
go with you.

HEROQUEST DICE ROLLER in MS Excel

Here are the instructions for the dice roller
First - download it and open it
Second - you will see at the bottom two rows that say "Here", with an arrow.
- Double click into one of the spaces the arrow points to - doesn't matter which one
- Now, click in the other space that the arrow points to
You will notice all the numbers change - all you're doing is making the sheet recalculate itself.

Third - You will be looking in the middle of the page - You'll see it says Heroes, then there are
columns with 3,4,5 and 1,2 and 6 - the 3,4,5 column is for your attacks - this is the
equivalent of rolling skulls - the 1,2 column is for your defense - this is the equivalent
of rolling white shields - the 6 column is for black shields

Fourth - you'll need to figure out how many dice you should be rolling - look all the way on the
left - you'll see numbers 1 through 20 - this is the number of dice

Fifth - as you recalculate the sheet, simply find the number of dice you need to roll and follow
that row over to the type of roll you're looking for (skulls, shields, etc.) and find out
how many were rolled

It might take a bit of practice with it to understand it good - again, don't think you'll hurt my
feelings if you don't like this one. drathe can suggest another if you want.

Do we record the rolling process, or something?

Necromancer seems a real odd design, but we'll give it a go and see...

Not necessary to record rolls really - simply make the rolls when needed and let me know what they were. Again - I'll
take your word for it - we'll just have to trust each other, that I rolled what I said I did, and that you guys rolled what
you say you did.

As far as the necro - its something I put together - thought it would be fun to try out - if it turns out it doesn't
work, we can try something else.

I'm still working on the magical item list - I've been sick the last couple of days, and didn't get much done. As
soon as I get that finished up, or at least have a good number done, enough to give you two some choices, I'll
post it, and then you can finish you characters up and we can get started.

So - it looks like we have skulmar on board - you've both made your first posts on the groups page...thank you for that.

It looks like work will be a little slow tonight, so I'll finish up some sort of list of magical items that will be available, and
will make a new post for you.

Once I finish up the magical items, I'll also give you a definite amount of gold you have available - Let's say this was what
you had when you left your home port. Figure it this way - normal weapons, armor, and gear will have been bought from
your home port before leaving. The magical items will be bought in Allyness, along with potions and spell scrolls and such.

Sound like a plan?

by the way - I've added a couple of things on the rules site:
- added to the equipment gear list
- added to the actions - there are a few more to come on that
- added the magical items list - this is, of course, not finished -
it gives you a lot of good options to choose from for now, though.

and here is something you'll need:
Starting gold = 4,000 gold - this includes whatever armors and
weapons you would've bought in your home port, as well as any
magical items you wish to buy in the Tanilier.
Realize that magical items, while available, are not as typical
as normal items - for each magical item you wish to buy, roll
1d6 - if you roll a 1, 3, or 5, that item IS NOT available, and
you may not roll again for that item at this time.
