Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » January 29th, 2026, 9:42 pm

The Alchemist on the Western border of Elthorn has a Monopoly on the Lunarium, which grants the Elven Kingdom access to the Upsidedown... I mean Realm of Reflection ;) ;). He's guarded by 4 Dread Warriors and has 4 spells: Mind Blast, Restore Dread, Summon Wolves & Werewolf Curse. Due to how extremely close the two teams rank the Alchemist won't be able to use his Summon Wolves spell unless he's really getting his butt kicked.

Qwindrak grows closer to full SeerScale as he's up to 5BP in the Horrors of Synchroform. He is aided in battle by a Dread Warrior and 4 Orcs and knows the Dread Spells Lightning Bolt & Tempest.

Alchemist & 4 Dread Warriors vs Qwindrak, 1 Dread Warrior & 4 Orcs

The 4 Dread Warriors are out of the gate first, followed by the Alchemist. They keep their distance from the opposing gate, well aware that Orcs can cover a great distance in one turn.

None of the Orcs or the Dread Warrior are able to cross the arena for an attack, but the Dragon sprays a Ball of Flame on one of the Dread Warrior's dealing 1BP of damage.

The Dread Warriors charge across the arena. 2 roll a Perfect attack of 4 :skull:s, killing an Orc and the opposing Dread Warrior, the other 2 double team the Dragon, taking him down to 2 BP. The Alchemist casts Werewolf Curse on an Orc, taking hold.

The Orc with the Mace whiffs on her attack against a Dread Warrior, the other two double team a Dread Warrior, killing him (the Orc did not Turn) while the Dragon finishes off the Dread Warrior he took a BP from earlier by casting Lightning Bolt through the Dread Warrior, down the arena into the Alchemist, hitting each with 2BP of Damage.

The 2 Dread Warriors take out 2 of the Orcs, including the one with the Werewolf Curse while the Alchemist casts Mind Blast on the last Orc, not confident the spell would hold on the Dragon.

Hoping to finish off the Alchemist, Qwindrak breathes a Ball of Flame on the Alchemist, rolling :roll5: :roll5:, dealing no damage. The Orc was unable to break Mind Blast.

The 2 Dread Warriors reigned down on them killing the Orc while the 2nd one managed to connect with 2 hits on the Dragon, claiming victory for his team.

The Alchemist and 2 Dread Warriors survive the battle.

Buubhealxea is a Goblin Queen and the leader of a sunken city subsequently or conveniently named after her. She must not think too highly of her own kind since she surrounds herself Orcs. Understandably they are more formidable fighters than Goblins, but even Gulthor found use for them. She'll be heading into battle today with an Abomination by her side and 6 Orcs. Due to the opposing team having an edge on points I've changed 1 of the Orcs into an Archer. Buubhealxea also has 3 spells at her disposal: Command, Escape & Fear. Perhaps being first out, having spells, an Archer & sheer numbers could give her team the win...

Frozen Horror is full of monsters with high attack dice and Body Points even the environment itself can be hazardous. In the Search for the Scepter, the source of the Frozen Horror's power, the Scepter of Power, is guarded by 3 Dread Warriors, a Polar Warbear & a Yeti. This group seems to outperform the opposing team on my points system, but hopefully they're balanced enough.

Buubhealxea, Abomination & 6 Orcs vs 3 Dread Warriors, 1 Polar Warbear & Yeti

The Orcs are fast enough to cover over half the arena, but once out of the gate Buubhealxea orders her troops back. The opposing team can't cover as much distance, but in keeping her troops back it guarantees first attack.

Out of the gate 2 Dread Warrior head towards Buubhealxea, the 3rd goes with the Polar Warbear and Yeti to clear out that side of the arena.

Buubhealxea has the numbers advantage and if her Orcs roll high enough they could clear out half the team right away. The Orc Archer fires an arrow, hitting a Dread Warrior for 1BP. The Orc with the mace circles this Dread Warrior and lands another hit, taking him down to 1BP. Axe Orc comes in from the side and chops his head off. The Orc with the Warhammer goes after the other Dread Warrior, rolling a perfect attack of 3 :skull:s, to which the Dread Warrior failed to roll a :blackshield:, getting his head smashed in. Buubhealxea casts Command over the Polar Warbear, who rolls :roll5: :roll6:, resisting the spell.
The Abomination & 2 Orcs focus their attacks on the Yeti, trying to take him out. They managed to reduce the Yeti to 1BP, but couldn't kill him. The Yeti survives with lacerations in his hide.

The Yeti grabs one of the Orcs and wrings his neck. The a Dread Warrior bashes one of the Maced Orcs over the skull while the Polar Warbear positions itself against the other sword Orcs & the Abomination. Attacking the Abomination first, it completely whiffs on the attack. Rolling 2 :skull:s against the Orc, the Orc blocked 1, still enough to end him.

The Abomination runs the Yeti through with its spear, finishing off the hulking beast. Buubhealxea casts Fear on the Polar Warbear while her 3 remaining Orcs target the Dread Warrior, inevitably ending him.

The Polar Warbears rolls a :roll1: & :roll2:, failing to resist the Fear spell. With both attacks reduced to 1, it target's an Orc, rolling :whiteshield: and :blackshield: on it's attacks, failing to land a hit.

The Abomination, Orc, Orc Archer & Buubhealxea herself attack the Polar Warbear. The other Orc was too far away to get in an attack. The Polar Warbear mustered enough defense to keep it alive, reduced to 2BP.

The Warbear let out a roar as it broke free from the Fear Spell. Its club bashed against the Abomination, killing it as it swiped its mammoth paw at the Orc, only 1 :skull:, but the Orc caught it on the armor, rolling a :blackshield:, surviving the attack.

The Orc Archer fired an arrow, missing the Polar Warbear, it also blocked Buubhealxea's attack, but the Orc drove his Ax down onto the Warbear's skull. The Warbear dropped and stopped breathing. Buubhealxea wins with 3 of her Orc fighters.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 1st, 2026, 5:12 pm

Balur is the Fire Mage who aids the Orcs in their war with the Realm. Yet, oddly enough her surrounds himself with Undead... perhaps he practices Necromancy as well. He's not a heavily skilled fighter, but he knows multiple spells that makes him a formidable opponent: Ball of Flame, Escape, Fear, Firestorm, Summon Orcs & Tempest. There will be no restriction on Summon Orcs as his opponent has a spawn ability as well.

The Bloomrot Scion, although massive and hulking, I believe is a type of plant empowered by the Blight. In one path of Jungles of Delthrak this is what is causing the infection within the Jungle. It cannot move, but sends it's Tendrils to do the attacking. The Bloomrot Scion uses a sweeping attack of t Combat Dice against all adjacent enemies. It has 5 defense, 12 Body Points, and despite 0 Mind Points it can cast Channel Dread at will. Although there is a rule that monsters with 0 Mind points cannot be effected by spells, the Bloomrot Scion. Is only immune to Sleep spells and any that would cause it to lose a turn. So I'm assuming all other spells can effect this creature. The Bloomrot Scion can spawn new tendrils at the end of its turn. Starting off the Tendrils have 6 movement, 3 attack dice (diagnol included) 2 defense dice and 2 body points.

Balur, 2 Mummies, 4 Skeletons & 2 Zombies vs Bloomrot Scion & 6 Tendrils

This is the closest we'll get to Plants vs Zombies.

Balur and his Undead are out first and immediately the Fire Mage casts Fear on the Bloomrot Scion, minimizing and all attacks to 1. The undead are too slow to get to the Bloomrot Scion.

The Tendrils move in for the attack, defeating a Skeleton and Zombie. A Mummy took 1BP of damage, Balur & a Zombie successfully blocked their attacks. The Bloomrot Scion casts Channel Dread on Balur, rolling a :roll4:, hitting him for 1BP. It also spawned another tendril.

Balur casts Ball of Flame on the Bloomrot Scion, dealing 2BP of damage while the undead start cutting through the Tendrils. Only taking out 2, wounding 2 others.

One of the Zombies moved too close to the Bloomrot Scion and despite being under the Fear spell attacks, but failing to roll a :skull:. Balur and a Mummy block the Tendril's attacks, 1 Mummy takes 1BP of damage while the other 2 fail to roll a :blackshield:. But another one is spawned by the Bloomrot Scion.

3 Tendrils are wiped out by the undead while Balur casts Tempest on one of the tendrils. A Skeleton runs up to the Bloomrot Scion stabs it with its scythe for a 3rd BP of damage. The Bloomrot Scion is down to 9BP.

One Tendrils was under the effects of Tempest, 1 flopped attacking a mummy and a Skeleton blocked the attack of the 3rd. The Bloomrot Scion performed a sweeping attack, managing a :skull: on both rolls, but the Skeleton & Zombie both produced a :blackshield: in defense.

A Mummy finishes off 1 tendril, while two Skeletons failed to roll a :skull:. Balur rolled 2 :skull:s to take out the one previously tempested, but it managed to block 1, promoting a mummy over to uproot it out of the ground. The Skeleton & Zombie continue the attack on the Bloomrot Scion, it blocks most damage, only taking 1, down to 8BP.

A recently spawned tendril goes after a Mummy with 2 :skull:s in its attack, but the Mummy rolled 3 :blackshield:s in defense. The other tendril takes out a Skeleton while the Bloomrot Scion hits its sweeping attack, rolling a :skull: on each attack. The Zombie blocked by the Skeleton was taken out.

All remaining tendrils are taken out by a Skeleton & 2 Mummies. Balur attempts to attack the Bloomrot Scion by flops on his attack. The Zombies takes it down to 7BP.

1 Mummy drops dead after the Bloomrot Scion casts Channel Dread. Another Tendril Spawns next to Balur, hitting him for 1BP.

Balur casts Escape to get away from the Tendrils. The Mummy takes out this tendril while the last Skeleton & Zombie attack the Bloomrot Scion, each failing to land a hit.

In a sweeping attack the Bloomrot only rolled 1 :skull: in its attack, taking out the Mummy that had been previously reduced to 1BP. It spawns another Tendril that takes out the Zombie.

Balur reenters the arena, casting Summon Orcs, rolling :roll4:, spawning 5 new Orcs to his side. It takes 2 to destroy the last tendril while 3 go after the Bloomrot Scion, one rolled 2 :skull:s, the Bloomrot Scion blocked both, the other flopped and the third landed a crushing blow for 2BP, taking it down to 5BP. The last Skeleton whiffed as well.

The Bloomrot Scion whiffed on all attacks but 1, taking out the last Skeleton, but a new tendril popped up, choking out an Orc.

Balur and an Orc fail to take out the Tendril while the 3 other Orcs continue with them onslaught, taking the Bloomrot Scion down to 2BP.

The Bloomron Scion is too afraid to roll any :skull:s in its sweeping attack, but the tendrils take out 2 Orcs.

Balur & an Orc take out 1 Tendril, the other Orc hits the Bloomrot Scion taking him down to 1BP. The Tendrin next to her wraps around her and takes her out. Another one spawns and goes after Balur, but he blocks the attack. The Orc lands the final body point on the Bloomrot Scion, but it sacrifices a Tendril to stay alive. Balur orders the Orc back to the gate, not taking any chances he casts Firestorm! Both the Bloomrot Scion and the remaining tendril catch fire and burn up. Balur survives the Bloomrot Scion.

Re: HeroQuest Blood Sport!!!

Postby wallydubbs » February 2nd, 2026, 9:01 pm

This is the Ogres type of match. The Ogre Lord Ekur has made a deal with Zargon's emissary, Festral, to raid the realm. He's the leader of this Ogre clan and has the best stats of any hero, Ogre or monster. He'll be leading his team of Ogres (Commander, Champion & Warrior into the Arena. When it comes to brute force this team has what it takes to win. However they must be weary as they have little defense against magic.

Fellmarak, the Sorcerer King, is well endowed in stats and spells. Seeking to overcome the realm in a Shroud of Darkness. This time from the Rise of Fellmarak he is without Zargon's Flame and is joined by 2 Dread Warriors, 1 Gargoyle & 3 Skeletons. His spells consist of Cloud of Dread, Command, Fear, Firestorm & Rust.

Lord Ekur, Ogre Commander, Ogre Champion & Ogre Warrior vs. Fellmarak, 2 Dread Warriors, 1 Gargoyle & 3 Skeletons

The Ogre Lord, slowly emerges from the gate followed by the Ogre Commander, Ogre Champion & an Ogre Warrior. They don't cover much distance.

The opposing gate opens with Fellmarak leading 2 Dread Warriors, 1 Gargoyle & 3 Skeletons. Knowing his opponents are prone to spells, Fellmarak casts Cloud of Dread, keeping is Gargoyle and Dread Warriors back. All Ogres, including Lord Ekur are effected as well as 1 Dread Warrior of Fellmarak's team.

The Ogre Commander & Ogre Broke free from the spell, but as they approached their opponents they were still too far to launch an attack. The Ogre Warrior was heading towards the paralyzed Dread Warrior, but the Gargoyle interrupted him, launching a perfect attack of 4 :skull:s! The Ogre Warrior failed to block any. The Skeletons, who are immune to cloud of Dread went after the Ogre Lord & Ogre Champion. 4 hits on the Ogre Lord, 1 on the Champion. Fellmarak casts Fear Command on the Ogre Commander, who falls under the spell. He turns around and attacks the Ogre Champion for 1BP of damage. The Dread Warrior manages to break the Cloud of Dread Spell and engages in the arena.

The Ogre Lord breaks free from the Cloud of Dread and smashes a Skeleton to bits. The Ogre Warrior lands 2 hits on the Gargoyle, but not enough to kill it. The Ogre Commander fails to break Command and the Ogre Champion can't beat the Cloud of Dread.

The Gargoyle rolls another perfect 4 :skull: attack. The Ogre Warrior only blocked 2, but it was enough to end him. The Gargoyle pulls the Ogre Warrior's heart from its chest and eats it. A Skeleton & 2 Dread Warriors go after the Lord Ekur while Fellmarak casts Fear on him. The attacks take him down to 5BP.

Lord Ekur resists the Fear spell and lands 3 :skull:s on a Dread Warrior, killing him. The Ogre Commander fails to break Command and the Ogre Champion remains paralyzed.

The Ogre Commander, still under Fellmarak's control helps a Skeleton kill his partner, the Ogre Champion drops to 0BP. Fellmarak joins his Dread Warrior, Gargoyle and Skeleton as they all gang up on the Ogre Lord. They take him down to 2BP.

The Ogre Commander, still unable to break the spell walks over to join them, but is too far. Lord Ekur rolls 4 :skull:s on his attack to try and take out Fellmarak, but the Sorcerer King blocks 1, dropping to 3BP.

The Gargoyle flies onto Lord Ekur's shoulders and tears his eyes out while Fellmarak runs a spear up the Ogre Lord's belly into his heart. He then immediately tells the Dread Warriors and Skeletons to go after the Ogre Commander. Fight as he may, the Ogre Commander cannot break the spell and just stands there, taking in all the attacks. Fellmarak & the Gargoyle would join in too, as the Ogre Commander dies before he could break the Command Spell.

Fellmarak, the Sorcerer King wins in a surprisingly one sided battle. Beating the Ogres in their own arena as they prove to be weak when dealing with magic. Fellmarak, 1 Dread Warrior, a Gargoyle & 2 Skeletons survive. This team will have a huge advantage in the next round.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 3rd, 2026, 1:28 am

Abraxus is one of the few Dread Warriors that sides with Qwindrak during the civil war between the forces of Dread and the SeerScale. In Sound the Hearthkin Horn awaits the heroes, confident that he can defeat them. In service with Abraxus are 2 Abominations, 6 Goblins & 2 Orcs. He has no spells but does fire a crossbow and appears to be a crack-shot with 4 attack dice.

Festral is the Dread Sorcerer chosen by Zargon to facilitate the alliance with Ogres. He only knows 3 spells that he can cast multiple times: Dominate, Mind Burst & Mind Lock. He's a decent fighter with 3 attack dice but dominated with mind points, having 8. He is accompanied by his elite guard of Dread Warriors who have 5 attack dice and 5 defense.

Abraxus, 2 Abominations, 2 Orcs & 6 Goblins vs Festral & 4 Elite Dread Warriors

Abraxus leads his small army out of the gate, keeping most of them back far enough that most of Festral's men can't strike.

Only 1 Goblin stood out far enough for one of the Elite Dread Warriors to attack, easily taking out the Goblin. Festral, however, casts Dominate over an Orc, rolling 4 :skull:s. The Orc only has 2 Mind Points so can't possibly resist the spell. Festral forces him to turn on his own teammates and takes out the other Orc.

An Abomination and Goblin double up against an Elite Dread Warrior, the Abomination dealt w damage and the Goblin finished him off. The Orc who had Dominate on him now goes after a Dread Warrior, hitting him for 1 BP. 2 Goblins join in the attack, one was blocked the other took him down to 1BP. Abraxus takes a shot at one of the elite Dread Warriors and fired a shot for 3 :skull:s, but the Dread Warrior blocked 1 hit, staying in the fight. One Goblin gets through the line of Dread Warriors to attack Festral himself, but the Goblin flopped on its attack. The other Abomination and Goblin attack the 4th Dread Warrior, who blocked every hit.

Festral backs away from the Goblin and casts Dominate again on the same Orc, rolling 3 :skull:s, but the Orc managed 2 :skull:s to resist the spell. The 3 remaining Elite Dread Warriors target the most dangerous adversaries, taking out the 2 Abominations with their attacks. One Elite Dread Warrior stormed after Abraxus, who reduced him to 1BP, attacking with 3 :skull:s, Abraxus, despite having 5 defense dice, failed to roll a :blackshield:, defeating their leader, leaving 5 Goblins & 1 Orc. The Goblins and Orc swarmed the Dread Warriors, taking out one of the Elite Dread Warriors that was down to 1BP. Two took down the 3BP Warrior to 1BP.

Festral and his 2 remaining Warriors fired back, Festral cast Dominate on a Goblin, taking hold, and sending him to take out the Orc, but he flopped on the attack. The 2 Elite Dread Warriors took out the Orc and 1 Goblin.

4 Goblins left and 2 Dread Warriors each with 1BP. The Goblins attack, 2 flopped, one took out an Elite Dread Warrior, the other Dread Warrior blocked the attacks.

Festral decided to get physical and decided to attack a Goblin, taking it out. The Dread Warrior took out another Goblin, leaving 2 more Goblins in the arena.

Despite their attacks targeting the Elite Dread Warrior, his 5 defense held strong.

Festral, from across the arena casts Mind Lock on a Goblin, causing him to lose 3 turns while the last elite Dread Warrior took out the other Goblin. Since the remaining Goblin was trapped in a Mind Lock, he couldn't move, allowing the Elite Dread Warrior to finish him off unimpeded.

Festral survives with 1 Elite Dread Warrior.

Re: HeroQuest Blood Sport!!!

Postby wallydubbs » February 3rd, 2026, 8:13 pm

Nyashak is one of the 4 Wizards of Morcar and might be Grawshak's daughter, I can't be certain. They've only mentioned it 10 times. She's a formidable Warcaster with 6 specific spells tailored to her: Call Goblins, Call Orcs, Orc Berserk, Sharpen Blades, Shield of Protection & Spirit of Vengeance. Nyashak is accompanied by a Dread Warrior, 2 Goblins and 4 Orcs, 2 are Elite Orcs with 1 extra attack and 1 extra defense dice, 2 are armed with shortbows.

Their opponents are from the Crowning, guarding the rift, which was causing the blight. A Giant Ape, a Blightcrawler with the spawn ability, 2 Raptors and 3 Skullblights. Two of Nyashak's spells bring more monsters onto the board for her team. The Blightcrawler can also add spawnlings onto the board. I will allow both of these. The Blightcrawler will have unlimited spawn ability, but only 4 spawnlings will be allowed on the board at a time.

Nyashak, 1 Dread Warrior, 2 Goblins, 2 Elite Orcs & 2 Orc Archers vs Giant Ape, Blightcrawler, 2 Raptors & 3 Skullblights.

Nyashak and her followers are out first, keeping a safe distance back, and she casts no spells, waiting for her opponents first.

The Blightcrawler and Giant Ape get up front as the Raptors wait patiently to jump in from the side. However the Sklblights are slow out of the gate and don't get very far.

As the battle starts Nyashak casts Shield of Protection, as the Blightcrawler drops a Spawnling. A Goblin runs up and hacks at the Spawnling with his hatchet. The Blightweaver spawns a 2nd Spawnling to take its place. An Elite Orc runs in from the side, smashing the Blightweaver with her mace for 2BP of damage. The Blightweaver creates yet another Spawnling. The Orc Archer moves closer and fires an arrow into the Blightcrawler's mouth, killing it. The other Orc Archer and a Dread Warrior go after the Giant Ape, effectively dealing 2BP of damage. A Goblin runs in to cut off the Raptor's progression and only lands 1 :skull:. The Elite Orc with a Warhammer runs after the Skullblight and crushes its face with a hit from his hammer.

The Spawnlings disperse, into a Goblin and Elite Orc, their protective shield does nothing to protect them from a venomous bite. 2 Skullblights stalk across the arena, only one reaches the Orc Archer, its attack fails in part due to Nyashak's spell. A Raptor runs after the Elite Orc with the Warhammer, but his Shield holds up too, taking no damage. The Giant Ape, with one swift blow from his hammer, splits the Dread Warrior's armor and pools the arena with blood. Enraged it runs after the Orc Archer. After the Raptor disposes of the Goblin that had attacked it, she runs over to help the Giant Ape, boxing in the Orc Archer.

Nyashak casts Summon Goblins, 4 appear, attacking a raptor and Skullblight, they were only successful in taking out the Raptor. The Orc Archer helped his partner out, sending an arrow through the head of the Raptor. This Archer tries to run away from the big ape, but he got caught in entangling roots from the Skullblight.

Stuck in the roots a Spawnling crawled onto him and bit him. The other Spawnling snuck up on a Goblin that just killed the Raptor. The Giant Ape charged Nyashak, herself, but he only rolled 1 :skull: that she easily blocked. One Skullblight flopped on its attack against the Orc Archer, the other managed to take out the Elite Orc with the hammer.

Nyashak ran from the Giant Ape and cast Call Orcs, spawning 2 new Orcs for her team. One took out a Skullblight, the Other crushes a Spawnling. The Orc Archer fired an arrow into the Giant Ape's hide while a Goblin took out the other Spawnling. Despite having 2 defense dice, the other Skullblight blocked 2 attacks from the other Goblins.

The Giant Ape, completely annoyed with the Orc Archer, runs up to him, grabs him and bashes him into the wall of the arena as his body falls apart. The last Skullblight takes out another Goblin.

Nyashak casts Sharpen Blades. One Goblin, bravely climbs up the Giant Apes's back and digs his dagger deep into neck, taking him down to 3BP. The recently spawned Elite Orc with an Axe came running in with a brutal 4 :skull: attack, lobbing the Axe into the side of the Giant Ape's face. The other or. Only rolled 1 :skull:, which the Skullblight blocked, while the Goblin whiffed.

The Skullblight failed to roll a :skull: on its counterattack, so finally the Elite Orc cut the Skullblight down, winning it for the team. Nyashak wins with 2 Elite Orcs & 2 Goblins.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 4th, 2026, 3:39 am

Towards the end of Rise of the Dread Moon, Sir Ragnar is revealed to be behind mostly everything in Elthorn as he's the main boss in the Royal Palace Awaits. Ragnar's story is confounding as he's captured by Ulag, saved by one group of heroes to only send another group of heroes to find his lost men. I can only assume Ragnar was the traitor referred to in the note in the spies' pocket from First Light. Ragnar goes missing towards the end of First Light and one can assume that he saves Skulmar at the end of Return of the Witch Lord (this was mentioned in the European version). Ragnar wouldn't be seen again until Knight Fall, touring the Elven dungeons with Skulmar. Just the same, Ragnar's a boss in this quest pack with 5 attack, 5 defense, 4 Body & 2 mind. He has a special ability similar to the Stalwart ability of the Knight where he'll jump back to 1BP after being reduced to 0 the first time. Ragnar is accompanied by a menagerie of monsters: An Assassin, Elven Warrior, Magus Guard, Dread Cultist, Specter, Orc & Goblin. This is an unusual and diverse group
I'm curious to see how well they work together.

Zanrath, the High Mage of Sarako; Fanrax the Malicious: Boroush the Storm Master & Nyashak the Warcaster. They are the Wizards of Morcar and what a combination of spell caster. Few teams have more than 1 spell caster on them, but this one has 4. However, due to the closeness of points between these two teams the Necromancer and/or Warcaster won't be able to call fourth any Orcs, Goblins, Skeletons or Mummies unless either of them is the last monster and odds are stacked against them. The Storm Master & High Mage have enough spells since Fanrax can't use 2 and Nyashak's spells seem to be redundant without other Orcs on the board, but I will allow them to work on her.

Sir Ragnar, Assassin, Magus Guard, Elven Warrior, Dread Cultist, Specter, Goblin & Orc vs Zanrath, Fanrax, Boroush & Nyashak

Ragnar orders his allies to spread out, these Wizards are trixy.

The First one out is Zanrath, who casts Unlearn on the Specter, revoking her ability to cast Channel Dread at will. Boroush follows, spying the position of his opponents and casts Earthquake on the opposite end of the arena, Ragnar, the Assassin & Orc all fall in. The latter would never emerge again. Fanrax walked out to stand beside Zanrath and cast Fear on Sir Ragnar. Nyashak is last and casts Shield of Protection as she comes out.

The Magus Guard casts Tempest on Boroush, while the Dread Cultist cast Channel Dread on the Storm Master, rolling :roll4:, dealing 1 BP of Damage. The Elven Warrior takes the long route, running around the Earthquake to avoid falling in. Ragnar crawls out of the Earthquake, rolling :roll2: :roll6:, breaking the Fear Spell. He charges the High Mage, rolling 3 :skull:s, Zanrath blocks 1, taking 2 damage. A Goblin runs in from the other side and sticks the High Mage with his dagger for 1 BP. The Assassin leaps out of the chasm and goes for a diagonal attack with 4 :skull:s. Zanrath's 1 :blackshield: isn't enough to save him and he's the first casualty on his team. But Fanrax casts Raise the Dread, bringing Zanrath's skeleton back, to kills the Goblin adjacent to him. The Specter floats in where the Goblin fell and takes out the Skeleton.

Boroush is overtaken by the Tempest spell. Nyashak, not allowed to call upon Orcs or Goblins yet, goes on the attack. Ragnar blocks her 2 :skull: attack with 2 :blackshield: of his own. The Assassin had already lost 1BP from the Earthquake, loses her 2nd from the Necromancer's Death Bolt, killing her.

The Dread Cultists casts Dread Lights on Boroush, who rolls :roll1:, succumbing to the spell. The Elven Warrior reaches the Storm Master and lands 2 hits him. The Magus Guard follow suit but only manages 1 :skull: that Boroush blocks. Ragnar dances through Fanrax and Nyashak, to go after Boroush. A low roll by Ragnar actually lands 1 hit on Boroush. The Specter gives it a shot too, but Boroush's 6 defense dice is difficult to break through.

Boroush is surrounded with no Veil of Mist, so he casts Hurricane on the Elven Warrior, blowing him all the way back where he falls into the Earthquake, losing 1BP. The Storm Master runs out to escape his adversaries, while also rolling a :roll6: to break the Dread Lights spell. Fanrax runs out to join him to get a better look at his opponents and casts Skulls of Doom, rolling 1 :skull: at the Dread Cultist. However the Cultist rolled 1 :blackshield: to block it. Nyashak, regroups with her fellow sorcerers and casts Spirit of Vengeance against the Specter, as the spell works around her ethereal ability. 3 :skull:s were too much for the Specter to block and she withers into ectoplasm.

The Elven Warrior, already inside the Earthquake, uses that to his advantage, running within the crevass to get on the other side of the pillar, coming out to surprise attack Fanrax, landing 2 :skull:s! Boroush is down to 2BP, so the Magus Guard tries to finish him off with a Ball of Flame. A :roll1: & :roll5: is produced, only dealing 1 damage. Ragnar charges Nyashak and she blocks his attack while the Dread Cultist hopes to finish Boroush, but the Storm Master just as too much defense dice.

Boroush casts Thieving Wind to carry Ragnar's shield away, he loses a defense dice. Nyashak reigns down with 2 :skull:s in her attack, but Ragnar still perseveres with 2 :blackshield:s! Fanrax swings his scythe down at the Elven Warrior, only landing 1 :skull:, taking the Elven Warrior down to 1BP.

Ragnar lands 1 hit on Nyashak, but Fanrax & Boroush have 6 defense dice and blocked all hits from the Dread Cultist & Elven Warrior. The Magnus Guard also attacked the Necromancer, but whiffed on the attack.

Boroush attacks the Dread Cultist and kills him. Nyashak hits Ragnar with 3 :skull:s, but his Stalwart Ability kicks in, bringing him back to 1BP. Fanrax also finishes off the Elven Warrior.
The Magnus Guard finally gets the final hit on Boroush, defeating the Storm Master as Ragnar lands 2 more hits on Nyashak.

Nyashak gets the final hit on Ragnar while the Necromancer rolls 2 :skull:s against the Magnus Guard. He blocked 1, down to 2BP.
Seeing Ragnar fall in battle, the Magnus Guard considers that he has a better chance beating 5 defense dice rather than 6. He swings his sword at Nyashak, who was celebrating her victory, taking her head off. The Necromancer attempts to finish him, but only dropped the Magnus Guard to 1BP. Fanrax blocked his next attack, but the Magnus Guard noted that he could outrun the Necromancer, so he sprints to the other end of the arena. Fanrax casts Summon Mummy, who appears out of nowhere and goes after the Magnus Guard, but its attack failed. The Magnus Guard rolled 2 :skull:s that the Mummy failed to block. He still outmaneuvers the Necromancer, who chases him to the other side of the Earthquake. Magus Guard takes one last shot to double back and rolling 2 :skull:. The Necromancer drops to 0BP as he failed to roll a :blackshield:. The Magnus Guard wins it for his team as the sole surviver.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 4th, 2026, 8:57 pm

Bakabri the Cruel guards the bridge Crossing the ravine that leads to the Crowning rift. Standing guard with her are 3 Blightweavers, 2 Dread Warriors, a Goblin, Orc & Raptor. She knows the spells Channel Dread, Creeping Grasp & Lightning Bolt. She can also attack at range from her wand.

The Halls of the High Mage's leads downwards to Arena of Misildia. But the halls were guarded by a Dread Sorcerer, perhaps a high Mage, who was summoning a Gargoyle and 4 Dread Warriors. He's also guarded by a Mummy and knows the Spells Fear & Tempest. His stats are the sama as a Dread Warrior with 1 additional mind point.

Bakabri the Cruel, 3 Blightweavers, 1 Raptor, 2 Dread Warriors, 1 Orc & 1 Goblin vs Dread Sorcerer, 4 Dread Warriors, 1 Gargoyle & 1 Mummy

Bakabri and his Blightweavers form a protective huddle in the corner after coming out of the gate. The Dread Warriors, Raptor, Orc & Goblin take up a position on the side. If the other team goes after the spell casters they'll be able to outflank them.

A Dread Sorcerer, whom I can only assume is a High Mage comes out followed by the Gargoyle, Dread Warriors & Mummy. The Mummy is very slow, though, and barely gets out of the gate. The High Mage casts Fear on one of the Dread Warriors. On his turn the Dread Warrior would roll :roll4: :roll5: :roll6:, breaking the spell.

They didn't cover much distance so Bakabri's team strikes. A Goblin goes after a Dread Warrior, who easily blocks its 1 :skull:. This was a set up as a Raptor came in from the side with Clever Tactician. Despite now having 4 combat dice in the attack only 1 :skull: was produced and blocked. Bakabri's Dread Warriors jumped in after the Gargoyle & an opposing Dread Warrior. The Gargoyle blocked the 2 :skull: thrown his way while the other Dread Warrior took 1BP of damage. The Orc ran into the fray too and tried to attack, but flopped. Bakabri & his Blightweavers each casts Creeping Grasp on the Gargoyle, 2 closest Dread Warriors and the High Mage. The Gargoyle was the only one to take damage and get ensnared by the vines.

The slow Mummy creeps up behind the Gargoyle and chews away the vines at his feet. The High Mage's Dread Warriors now have their go: one clobbers the Orc to death, while another breaks rank and runs after the Raptor that had recently tried to pull a hit & run. His Mace shatters the Raptor's Skull. Another Dread Warrior attacks the one from the opposing team, but only gets 1 :skull: that was blocked. The 4th Dread Warrior jumped in from the side to help take him out, but had the same luck, except this time his 1 :skull: wasn't blocked. Smelling blood, the High Mage reasons he's as skilled a fighter as these Dread Warriors, rathing than casting a Spell he circles around for the attack, dropping 2 more :skull:s, taking out the Dread Warrior. The other opposing Dread Warrior successfully blocked the Gargoyle's attacks.

The Spellcasters from the sidelines did their worst, as they're huddled together, one casts Channel Dread on the Gargoyle, rolling a :roll4:, but as he's standing besides 2 fellow spellcasters it's upped to 6, killing the Gargoyle. The other 2 perform the same action on 2 opposing Dread Warriors, rolling a :roll6: and :roll5:, both take 2 damage, 1 dies. Bakarbi sees an opening as she runs out of Blightweaving circle and casts a Lightning Bold, diagonally through the wounded Dread Warrior and the Mummy, taking them both out. Their last Dread Warrior, however, attacks the High Mage for a perfect attack of 4 :skull:s. The High Mage only produced 1 :blackshield:, losing all 3 of his starting body points from a single attack, dying without casting his last spell.

The High Mage's team only had 2 Dread Warriors left, so they went for broke going after the two strongest opponents, Bakabri & the other Dread Warrior. It didn't go as well as hoped as both only took 1BP of damage.

The Goblin runs in from behind and stabs one of the Dread Warriors from behind for 1BP, allowing Bakabri's Dread Warrior to finish him off. Bakabri himself, backs away from his attacker and fires a shot from his wand, that hits the Dread Warrior for 2BPs. The Blightweavers, all out of spells, draw their sickles and surround the Dread Warrior, slashing down at him like he's Julius Caeser.

Bakabri survives with his 3 Blightweavers, a Dread Warrior and a Goblin.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 5th, 2026, 11:51 pm

Ograk is the Orc Commander in the Eastern Passage of Keller's Keep. He's an experienced killer that may or may not be related to Ulag & Grak. Ograk has the same stats as a Dread Warrior. Standing besides him are an entourage of 6 Orcs, 2 Goblins & 2 Abominations. It was a decent sized force, but they were all vulnerable to Magic. He would have preferred testing his force against Ogres, but with a distinct hatred for Elves he was up for this challenge.

Tormuk is an Elven Necromancer that sided with Sinestra during the civil War in Elthorn. His team consists of 3 Abominations, 1 Giant Wolf and 2 of Terrellia's Body Guards, who are just Elven Archers. Despite being a Necromancer Tormuk is also a skilled Warrior with 4 attack & defense dice, with 6 Body Points, one of the higher ones for a boss and 6 mind points. Normally Tormuk would have 6 spells at his disposal, but due to the conditions of this fight only 3 would be of use. Werewolf Curse, Command & Mind Burst are the 3 he can bring into the arena. Because his team is slightly ahead on points he won't be allowed to Summon Wolves; Since there are no Undead on his team Reanimation can't be used; and Since he's not up against a Spell Caster in this round he'll have no use for Mirror Magic.

Ograk to eads his forces, seemingly keeping them a safe distance back.

When the opposing gate opens his forces weren't as far back as he expected, a Giant Wolf rushes out, able to reach one of his Goblins, having a quick snack as the battle begins. The Abominations on the other team couldn't make it across, but the two Elven archers shot two Orcs dead. Meanwhile Tormuk casts Werewolf Curse on one of the Orcs.

Ograk, one of his Orcs and an Abomination all pounce after the Giant Wolf as he is their most dangerous foe. 2 :skull:s from the Orc, 1 by the Abomination, and Ograk finishes off the beast. The Orc Archer targets the Elven Archer but misses his shot. But their last Goblin runs across the arena attacking the Elven Archer for 1 :skull:, but a :blackshield: was rolled from 2 defense dice. The other Abomination runs across the arena, slashing her claws at the Elven Archer, dealing 1 damage. The Orc with the Werewolf curse rolls :roll1: :roll4:, not turning, but runs around opposing forces to get to m this Archer and adds another BP of damage. The other Orc Archer can't get a clear shot on the Elven Archers, but fires an arrow at the Abomination blocking his sight, taking it out. He then runs and hides behind the arena pillar, fearing retaliatory arrows. Elves are well known for their strong eye sight.

Tormuk's Abomination steps out to kill the Goblin assaulting the Elven Archer. Only 1 :skull: was rolled, but the Goblin amazingly rolled a :blackshield:. Tormuk runs out from behind the pillar and casts Mind Blast on Ograk. The other Abomination takes out the Goblin who has successfully blocked the other attack, giving the Archer a clear shot at Ograk. He sends an Arrow into Ograk's chest, but his armor slowed it from going all the way through, only dealing 1 damage. The other Elven Archer ran from the Orc and Abomination attacking him and loosed an arrow into one of the Orc Archers who wasn't hiding behind a pillar.

The Abomination gave chase to the Elven Archer, slashing with her claw, but the Archer dodged the blow. She was unaware that her Orc partner had just turned into a Werewolf and pounced on her with a 5 :skull: attack, killing the Abomination. The Orc Archer steps out from behind the pillar, loosing an arrow on the Elven Archer, missing, hitting the pillar behind him. Ograk breaks the Mind Blast and runs over, slaughtering the Elven Archer. The remaining Orc on Ograk's team charges the opposing Abomination and slams her mace down on the fish head, killing it. Ograk's Abomination charges the female Elven Archer, claws and bites at her, dealing 2 damage, not enough to kill her.

Tograk casts Command on the last Orc Archer, ordering him to fire upon his own boss. The Orc Archer sends an arrow at Ograk, who skillfully knocked the arrow out of the air. The Elven Archer runs from the Abomination, turning around and loosing an Arrow for a head-shot, killing Ograk's last Abomination. Tormuk's Abomination steps out from behind the pillar and tries to attack Ograk, missing the attack.

Still in Werewolf form, Tormuk commands the cursed Orc to attack Ograk's other Orc. Killing another one of his teammates. Ograk kills the Abomination that tried to attack him and hides behind a pillar to avoid flying arrows. His Orc Archer rolled :roll5: :roll2:, failing to break the Command spell.

The Elven Archer can't get a clear shot on Ograk, but the Orc Archer is much faster, running around the pillar to fire at Ograk... Conveniently he missed. Tormuk says "Enough of that." And challenges Ograk as Tormuk is skilled fighter too. He hits Ograk for 1BP, so he's now down to 1.

The Cursed Orc turns back into himself and sees his leader battling Tormuk. He comes to his aid, only rolling 1 :skull:, which Tormuk blocked. He than takes an arrow from the Orc Archer still under the command spell. Ograk uses his Warhammer to knock 2BP from Tormuk. Tormuk fights back with 3 :skull:s Ograk fails to defend. Ograk drops to his knees and spits blood at Tormuk before dying. To tie up loose ends the Elven Archer fires an arrows into last Orc Archer, still under the command spell. Tormuk & his Elven Archer are the survivors for his team.

Re: HeroQuest Blood Sport!!!

Zanrath, the High Mage of Sarako is one of Zargon's lieutenants in the Wizards of Morcar. Armed only with his Crescent Moon staff he's just as good in combat as he is a Wizard. He has 6 spells tailored specifically to him: Escape, Possess, Rust, Strands of Binding, Unlearn & Wall of Flame. He's guarded by 3 Elite Dread Warriors, who have an extra attack and defense dice, a Gargoyle & a Golem.

Qwindrak demonstrates the Might of Synchroform with multiple forms, starting off as the Dread Sorcerer with 3 attack dice, 6vdefense, 3 Body & 6 Mind. Qwindrak will not have the benefits of meteors every time someone attacks him, instead, whenever Qwindrak changes forms he'll be allowed an immediate attack with that form. He starts off with 3 Dread Spells: Cloud of Dread, Lightning Bolt & Tempest. Of course, he also has Ball of Flame in Dragon Form.

Zanrath, 3 Dread Warriors, 1 Gargoyle & 1 Golem vs Qwindrak

Zanrath and his Golem are a bit slow so they don't make it that far out of the Gate, but the Dread Warriors and Gargoyle take up a spot in the center of the arena.

Qwindrack is out next, unable to reach any particular adversary so he casts Tempest on Qwindrak and holds up in a corner to avoid being completely surrounded.

Only 1 Dread Warrior is able to reach Qwindrak. With a 3 :skull: attack, Qwindrak blocks 2.Qwindrak is boxed in but only 1 Dread Warrior would reach him. Qwindrack casts Cloud of Dread, filling up the arena. The Gargoyle and all 3 Dread Warriors succumb to the Cloud of the Dread, but Zanrath is able to beat it and the Golem is unaffected. Zanrath cast Strands of Binding on Qwindrak. Qwindrak immediately breaks free from the strands.
2 Elite Dread Warriors broke free from the Cloud of Dread, but 1 remained paralyzed along with the Gargoyle. There was only enough space for 1 Dread Warrior to attack Qwindrak, the other was paralyzed. He rolled 1:skull:, but Qwindrak was able to block it. Zanrath & the Golum wouldn't be able to fit in there so Zanrath cast Unlearn, removing Zanrath's Lightning Bolt.
Qwindrak attacked the paralyzed Dread Warrior for 2BP, not enough to kill him.
The Dread Warrior & Gargoyle both failed to break free from the Cloud of Dread, but the unparalyzed Dread Warrior attacked for 2BP, Qwindrak took another BP of damage. The Dread Warrior moved and allowed the other one to take a shot, but Qwindrak keeps good defense. Zanrath has no spell that'll help the situation and can't quite get in there.

Qwindrak rolls another double :skull: to take out the paralyzed Dread Warrior and he runs from his opponents.
The Dread Warriors give chase as the Gargoyle surprisingly can't break Cloud of Dread. But the Dread Warriors reached Qwindrak. The first attack was blocked, but the other Dread Warrior smashed Qwindrack's skull. Shuffling the Monster cards the Abomination comes up, Qwindrak changes form and immediately attacks, dealing 1BP of damage to a Dread Warrior. Zanrath holds his spells, waiting for the Dragon.

The Gargoyle finally breaks the Cloud of Dread, runs over and rips Abomination/Qwindrak's eyes out. Reshuffling the cards, an Orc is drawn and he flops on his attack. One Dread Warrior rolls only 1 :skull:, but Orc/Qwindrak rolls a :blackshield:. The same thing would happen when the next Elite Dread Warrior attacks. Orc/Qwindrack rolls 3 :skull:s on his attack against the wounded Dread Warrior, but the Dread Warrior produced 2 :blackshield:s in defence. Now with Orc legs Qwindrak tries to outrun the Gargoyle Dread Warriors.
Zanrath casts Possess, forcing Orc/Qwindrack to run closer to him. Zanrath rolls 3 :skull:s to strike him down. The Orc rolled 2 :blackshield:s, his maximum, which wasn't enough to save him. Next on the Monster card draw was a Goblin. Though he did roll a :skull: Qwindrak easily blocked it. A Dread Warrior makes it over to immediately squash the Goblin. On the next draw a Gargoyle comes up to immediately get the final hit on the Elite Dread Warrior. Another Elite Dread Warrior comes to take his place, rolling 3 :skull:s, but Gargoyle/Qwindrak blocks 2. The giant Golem gets close enough for a diagonal attack but flopped. Zanrath's Gargoyle fails to make it over for the attack.

Gargoyle/Qwindrack only manages 1 :skull: against the High Mage but he blocked it. He than tries to run away from the onslaught, as the Elite Dread Warrior and Gargoyle can still catch, but he could certainly outrun Zanrath & the Golem. As he turns and runs past the pillar a Wall of Flame blocks his path, minimizing his escape. But the elite Dread Warrior Gargoyle/Qwindrack with his mace. Qwindrack would than take on the form of a Dread Warrior. He only rolled 1 :skull: that the Elite Dread Warrior blocked. The Gargoyle comes over to attack him, but he blocks it too.

Qwindrak/Dread Warrior rolls a perfect 4 :skull: attack against the Elite Dread Warrior, who only managed 1 :blackshield:, taking him out of the match. The Golem slowly inches closer and the High Mage casts Rust, causing the Dread Warrior/Qwindrack's sword to rus away. The Gargoyle attacks him, dealing 2 Damage. Dread Warrior/Qwindrack with only 1 attack dice fails to roll a :skull:. The Gargoyle backs away after flopping his attack, allowing the Golem to come over and finish off Dread Warrior/Qwindrak, who than turns into his Dragon Form, lands 2 :skull:s on the Golem.

Dragon/Qwindrak blocks the Golem's follow up attack and Zanrath commands it to back away, allowing the Gargoyle to run in with a perfect 4 :skull: attack. Dragon/Qwindrak only managed 1 :blackshield:, taking 3 damage. Dragon/Qwindrack fired back with 3 :skull:s, but the Gargoyle blocks 2 of them, still alive. Dragon/Qwindrak takes flight, still unable to go through the Wall of Flame, but he can fly over the Gargoyle and Golem. He's able to get away where they can't get to him, but the High Mage was close enough and went for the attack with his Magical Crescent staff. 2 :skull:s land, taking the Dragon/Qwindrak down to 2BP.

With 5 attack dice Dragon/Qwindrack only rolls 1 :skull: on the High Mage, who was unable to block it. The Dragon/Qwindrak took flight away to the other side of the arena where Zanrath, the Gargoyle and Golem couldn't reach him. But they were spread out and closing in on him. Qwindrak/Dragon moves to take out the Golem, breathing fire against the metal guardian. A roll of :roll5: :roll5: has no effect on the Golum.
He tries to pass the Golem with not enough space as the Golem was able to reach him via diagonal attack, landing 2 final :skull:s on Dragon/Qwindrak.

The High Mage Zanrath survived with a Gargoyle and Golem.
