I keep forgetting to update the app in the play store.
It's inconsistent, as sometimes it tells you in the app that certain files need updating, so when you don't get that message, you assume it doesn't need updating!

Agreed. On the other hand apps that nag you and force you to update annoy me, so I guess this is what I wanted.

Off topic, but the NA instructions (not the same as every edition) actually have you shuffle the deck before every Treasure search (for a long time I played it "wrong" because I didn't read the entire booklet... if you only read one mention it sounds like it's saying just to shuffle before each quest... but in another place it does say to shuffle before each search; now I still only shuffle it once... and let the Twitch chat request it be shuffled when they want).

The app is on the honor system, so how you choose to handle it is up to you when using it!

I reshuffle every time a bad one goes back in. I dont see the need when a good one is drawn as it's not being put back into the deck.
To each his own really, as long as it's consistent.

That is the way I’ve been doing it since I started playing with the app, because I was too lazy to shuffle it each time.

They sell card shufflers (including ones with manual hand cranks).

Oh No it Doesn't! (sorry christmas panto season is in force) the NA instructions actually state

The Treasure Cards must be shuffled before a Hero draws one from the deck.

As the treasure cards are shuffled at the start of the game, then player 1 on turn 3 can draw from the deck without needing to shuffle as the condition is true -the cards have already been shuffled before he draws one from the deck - and he gets a potion, then on turn 6 player 2 can also draw from the deck without needing to shuffle as the condition is still true - the cards have already been shuffled before he draws one from the deck, as they were shuffled at the start of the game and have not been unshuffled - she draws a Hazard card, which is actioned and returned to the deck.

This means that the deck is no longer shuffled and cannot be drawn from legally, so player 2, having returned the card, then shuffles the deck. Now on turn 10, when player 3 needs to draw a treasure card then they may do so without the need to shuffle as the condition is once again true, as the deck has been shuffled (by player 2 on turn 6) before player 3 draws a card (on turn 10).

It is a subtle distinction.

In the UK the rules state that you must be at least 18 years of age to purchase a pint of beer. This doesn't mean that you have to turn 18 each time you wish to purchase a pint of beer, which is fortunate otherwise everyone could only ever purchase a single pint(!), it means that the condition must be true prior to you being able to purchase a pint and as long as the condition remains true you can purchase until your cup overflows. |_P

This is the same sort of rules reading logic that makes a person use up all their shampoo in a single shower, right?

I think we shuffled our HeroQuest cards in 1991...

Isn't this what I was doing?
Only shuffle when a bad card is drawn and returned to the deck?

Don't worry, you are doing it correctly.

When drawing the good cards, the randomness of the remaining deck hasn't changed, so shuffling it before the next draw makes no difference and therefore it's not worth doing.
