The "Dread Veil Dice" and Dice Scroll/Play Mat were both branded with artwork of ROTDM. And I am sorry to say people are already scalping them for ridiculous prices. Please don't buy... instead, express your desire (civilly) to Avalon Hill and hopefully we'll all get them soon in retail for a reasonable price!

Just updated the companion app with the new expansion!

August 10th, version 1.80

RISE OF THE DREAD MOON expansion set is now supported in the HeroQuest Companion App! Embark on dangerous quests, as you seek the aid of the Cadre of the Raven's Veil to help stop Zargorn's forces of Dread from destroying the kingdom. Navigate through a dark labyrinth of waterways, an underground city, and more perilous locations. But be wary—for Zargon's forces grow ever stronger with the rise of the Dread Moon!

Knightfall shouldn't be far behind I imagine... and keep an eye out of the PDF of the questbook!

As I commented on HeroQuestFans Discord (thanks pappaBear and seekhashem!):

purple fog, like MOTM
under "Use Special----> Use Artifact" they've added Cloak of Shadows
under "Use Equipment" Use Caltrops and Use Smokebomb are added
nothing new added to use treasure. the arrangement of icons changes when you pick your first quest
I see when you hire elven mercs they let you toggle between gold value and reputation tokens. stock is 1 of each of the four types as expected
you can start hiring elven mercs in quest 2
if there was any doubt, you can only hire the elven mercenaries within ROTDM (and can't hire human mercs there).
yep, new guardian knight is missing in character selection (old one works fine)

I'm not confident that the next Quest Packs will expand the Alchemy Deck, but I hope they do.

At the very least, they need to include a corrected Potion of Greater Restoration in the next Quest Pack. The one we got has the wrong image!

From some of what Encarmine said in the Kurgan interview, it appears that AH is making conscious decisions when adding new content, with a mind towards functionality and what would be interesting to add, over slavishly going back to update previous iterations.

To me, in the context of the Alchemy Deck as an example, a lot of effort went into reworking the way potions are used in-game. This is effectively a new system. All that work would be in vain, or at least awfully narrow in purpose, if it were not continued going forward. I have no way to back that up of course, it's simply my impression.

As an extension of this thought and as a wish-list item, I've said it before but, I hope we see a similar treatment for a Scroll Deck at some point in the future.

The idea of a “Scroll Deck” was somewhat introduced in Kellar’s Keep. The instructions under New Artifact cards says Zargon should lay the cards face down and mix them up, with the hero player drawing at random. This concept was not used in Return of the Witch Lord, where it seems the scrolls found in the quests are specific, not random. The top image is the old pdf of RotWL, the second is a photo of the KK book.

This could mean the concept of a scroll deck was supposed to be a gimmick for KK, or they just didn’t incorporate the idea in later pack because they forgot or some other reason.

I do keep my Scrolls in separate decks. The first is a "Master Deck" which contains 1 Copy of each, in alphabetical order. The second is a "Random Deck" which can be shuffled and drawn from (I have multiple copies of all of them)...

I already did similar with Potions prior to RotDM.

What I would like to see is an "Official" Scroll deck, with a dedicated Card Back and perhaps some minor rule tweaks as we saw in the Alchemy Deck.

BEWARE SPOILERS AHEAD!!

It is just me or don't you think that it would be cool and useful to include four Dread Skill cards in the RotDM box for the final quest? Of course not 100% necessary, but it would allow a better track of which skill has been already used by Zargon and which not. I think I will homebrew them for my games...

About Quest 3, I would also included some tokens, similar to the Kellar's Grin Map parts, to give to the Heroes and track the number of successes the got. Maybe a three-part puzle of a Cadre's Veil shield would be cool for that, in my opinion. I think I will also homebrew it...

Finally, a lore/story question for everyone (SPOILERS AHEAD): Who do you think is the hooden stranger the Heroes find twice during Quest #8 of Rise of the Dread Moon?? There was another stranger in previous quests, but its identity was already revealed in quest #6, so who may be this 'new' one?... maybe it is Ithraeon again or not?

From the Gen Con interviews, AH said that they leave things open enough so that the player can homebrew or create their own lore.To me that just means they have a built in excuse to leave things unfinished but whatever. My point it that I doubt that there is an official answer. I'm personally think that I'll make it Zargon. He's doing it just because he's bored lol
