Apparently they didn't address 3 of the biggest issues and it's just a reprint, i'll still get it though.

Official Errata is still coming...

It's going to be separate from the quest book, so I'm expecting a PDF document (and the App!), hopefully posted prominently so everyone who buys this can see it, rather than a post that would appear and then get buried on twitter. For now the App still requires a smart phone, so it needs to also be in another accessible format. I was really hoping for a printed page inside the box.

If they were not doing this, I would be hesitant about supporting it, to be honest. Yes, as a hardcore fan *I* have my fixes ready to go, but the average consumer, who doesn't hang out on social media all the time who simply notices a "new heroquest product" and has fond memories of the original game may be disappointed, confused...

Collectors don't care, and never cared, neither do people who buy it just for the minis. So until then it's still homebrew or bust!

Ditching the "sticky tape circles" at least in the case of Amazon seems to be the case. Good! Those things were annoying. Shrink wrap and a simple piece of tape is much easier to clean up without damage!

I'm disappointed there was no printed addendum included, for an even bigger wow would have been to include a "classic" 1:1 reprint quest book and then a 2022 updated and corrected version... but obviously they didn't go that way...

Agreed. Amalgamash posted his unboxing and comparison (with the 1992 edition): here . |_P

So it seems clear now that no errata is included with the Frozen Horror in the box... so we're waiting for something digital by now.

UPS delivery: The Frozen Horror.

I wanna bet I'm the first in the Netherlands to receive it and also one of the first in Europe.

Looks really great! I've had a printed copy of the original quest book for years but never played a single quest (because I didn't have the minis and tokens).

The official errata/intro quest posted... ! https://hasbropulse.com/blogs/avalon-hill/heroquest-a-chilling-journey-north

Thanks to Encarmine for the news! |_P

Exciting news ahead, gamers!

The Frozen Horror expansion global launch date is August 1st, 2022, though it may be available in your region ahead of schedule. We’re so excited for this release that we’ve put together an introductory solo quest for any hero to attempt, along with additional playtest rules and errata.

Here’s a deeper look from our favorite designer, Doug:

“Hear my words heroes, for the HeroQuest Frozen Horror Expansion pack is not an adventure to be trifled with! Many a valiant hero has not returned from its icy monster-strewn dungeons. Loretome has revealed a dangerous journey one hero may undertake to find a lost artifact of great power. Are you up to the task? The quest is calling!

HeroQuest Online Quest 2 – Into the Northlands is a solo quest for any hero. It is designed to prepare them for the powerful threats found in the HeroQuest Frozen Horror Expansion pack. For Zargon players, this quest gives some suggestions and tools to help scale the level of difficulty desired for their game. It also answers some commonly asked questions and provides errata to some game mechanics that felt more unfair than challenging.

This quest includes a set of playtest rules for bringing an animal companion on your solo adventures. A popular archetype in sword and sorcery tales is the friend of beasts. Great cats, horses, hawks, and all manner of small clever critters have a history of thwarting the machinations of foul sorcerers. We wanted to take this opportunity to playtest some new companion rules and tell a story of how your hero first encountered one of these faithful animals on their journey to the frozen north.

The Avalon Hill team uses an alternative to the roll to move mechanic in our playtesting. We included it in this quest so you could try it out! It keeps the drama of rolling double 1s (tripping on a loose dungeon cobblestone) in combat but keeps exploring brisk.

Cast the far voice spell and let us know what you think!”

What could I show what other unboxings haven't showed?

The cardboard stuff is just great. Exact reproduction of the original stuff, so an A+. If it's old (30+ years) then there's a good chance I like it. So there's that.

Minis: Just like the base set + KK & RotWL I prefer the originals. Nevertheless, the FH, Gremlin, Polar Warbear, Yeti and Barbarian look good. I've stated 1 or 2 weeks ago I dislike the henchmen, especially the art of their cards. Instead of oldskool fighters they went politically correct and put some supermodels on the cards.

Cards: good art. Although I prefer the original art, this comes surprisingly close.

Box: like KK & RotWL way better (sturdier) than the 90s stuff. Hooray for the trays.

Dice: adding extra dice was a great move, and making them translucent blue (ice) is genius.

Doors: Absolutely great. The doors and furniture of AH's HQ remake have been a big improvement over the original and this is no exception.

Playability: as said, I've never played a FH quest. The set was never released over here. I did print the questbook some 15+ years ago but never played it. They look hard and if I recall correctly they've never been playtested, which I can believe by looking at the maps.

There was a leaflet inside with a QR code for the app. Alas, still not available in the Netherlands.

I hope Mage of the Mirror is next!

Thanks for that!

Now that you mention it, the henchmen are all "pretty" (even the guys). I guess that's why they refused to wear helmets (the biggest sin, in my humble opinion) this time. At least there are 2x of them, but that's going to cost 2x the gold to hire them.*

I've been told that you can use a VPN to get the App in your country. Might try that (alas, no smartphone or tablet for me so I can't really use it).

The Errata has a bonus quest that they recommend you play first, which will give you plenty of gear and some tips that should make it much better, including some awesome artifacts never acquired in the 1992 edition.

* The Horn of Command artifact lets you hire them back at a reduced price!

So FH issues addressed so far:

Needing toolkit and body armor sooner.
Needing some gold sooner.
Needing more healing potions sooner.
Finding the Armband of Ice artifact.
Yeti hug attack vs. solo hero (not used in solo quests, later one character can be immune).
Solo hero needing some backup.
Ice Gremlins stealing too much stuff (easier to get back and at least one person can be immune).
Polar Warbears too powerful (artifact weapon to do more damage to them, you pick which attack to roll to defend against).
New big Frozen Horror is bigger than doorways and single corridors.
Needing Mercenaries sooner (Animal allies in solo quests, 2x mercenaries available to hire, artifact reduces retainer fee).

General:
Bad movement rolls are annoying ("Unthreatened movement" option, 4 movement per red die option instead when no monsters around).

Not addressed: Traps on the other side of an open door, or undetectable traps.
