I am so upset I didn't know about the remake and missed out on ordering the mythic set. Still can't get my hands on a reasonably priced set of Commander of the Guardians. Luckily I was able to order the core game and two expansions from my local GameStop. GameStop still has the two Knights x-pack listed, but 'Out of Stock'. I see some sites have it on pre-order. Not sure how to go about obtaining them (not paying 200+ on eBay). I also hope they retail the Mythic items. Or at least make another limited run of them.

Is it just me? I don't like a SINGLE mini from this rerelease aside from the furniture updates. When comparing to the original there is no comparison, but even as a standalone game with no past reference or comparison I don't like any of the model designs. The barbarian is the only one that is passable.

We're still waiting for the March 1st date when they will get more stock of the Guardian Knights back in (and after that, probably May, then July, etc). I agree, many, probably most fans had no idea about the Pledge drive, and so missed out on the Mythic tier. I was in my local gamestop not long ago, and they had nothing on the store shelves or posted anywhere that would give the impression that HeroQuest even existed. So you can't blame the main potential customer base being a bit confused about the whole thing. If people are doing all of their shopping online though, they will know about it now probably, too late to get the mythic stuff.

I agree, the whole "limited time for collectors" thing that Hasbro does through Pulse is just a boon to scalpers. Thankfully none of the Mythic stuff is really required to play the game, and while some of the alternate monster sculpts were nice for variety, most won't miss them. Then again, the male elf should have been still available, but let's face it, it's the same design just with different sized chest and legs. I really thought the alternate gender heroes would be still available at this point and if nothing else they should have re-released those in retail. A shame they didn't. But they'll have another golden opportunity for that with the Barbarian (and inevitably the Elf, assuming they don't piss off the fans with this one being broken with no explanation except to go to the Inn to look for fixes) quest pack later this year.

Preferring the old-school sculpts is fine--many agree with you. I for one am happy with my original set. One thing I do like about the new minis is the round bases. It isn't their styling, but rather their playability that impresses me. They work as superior references for determining line of sight, in my opinion. The unblocked line from the Elf past the Wizard in the LoS diagram now makes sense.

Nope, it's not just you.
PS: why did they give the barbarian jesus-nikes?

I was able to obtain the new version of HeroQuest for $113.00 on Amazon in February 2022

Just spotted RotWL on Amazon.co.uk, for release on the first of July.

Based on the pictures and slightly-off sentences in the description, it's the German version.

...for some reason.

We used some of the new content 2 days ago.
The Bard made a great showing for himself.

The mechanics of his cards are pretty cool.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Good to hear the Bard is more than just a pretty face.

So, all criticisms aside and other critiques, has everyone enjoyed getting into playing this again? I haven't played yet because my two kids are too young, but I am working on painting every single figure (taking longer than I thought).

I'm just loving the revival, and that community is so active again.
