So, just had a chance to read through the latest scans of the Barbarian Pack. Unfortunately, a lot of the notes were too light and unreadable on the scan.

You can take snippets (or screen grabs) and darken the contrast to see those portions of text a bit better.

I was shocked to see that the Yeti "hold" used not to be so bad. While the Yeti could defend (with 1 less) while in it, the hold does 1 BP damage per turn but the Barbarian could roll 2 dice and if he got one white shield, he just avoided damage, but if 2 white shields he broke the hold. Allow him to try that each turn makes it a lot more fair for the solo quest! The defense is compensation for allowing the victim to break out (in theory) without help.

Are you listening Avalon Hill? :o

I may adopt this system myself next time we play those quests!

Hey, sorry for calling you "taco" by mistake, by the way. I appreciate all the research you did on the lost quests!

Unfortunately some of the notes ARE very light, or have been canceled altogether and scribbled over. The fact that I also have to shrink the size to make it a manageable attachment doesn’t help…
If you email me back, I could try and send you a less compressed example.

Right? It’s a bit more complicated, but at least you can survive. Guess that a dice roll to break the hug would have been a welcome, minimum addition. It was broken right in the next draft, and they kept it like that till the end, despite recognizing it was somewhat overpowered (someone put a “Wow!” note on it in a later draft).

Yeah good point as the papers have been erased and overwritten in places. Really close scans could be done to see what the original text was (reminds me of looking at ancient manuscripts where the material was "washed" and new text written over it, because those materials were scarce in the old days). Just to help see the design process...

Yeah, there are some docs that were also damaged by water, so color of the ink bled through the pages. Luckily it seems it's mostly from some highlighter circles and arrows. Some are difficult to read "live" too, tried to scan with a somewhat darker tone but it doesn't always work. There should be some online tools to help with that too.

;-) no offense taken

Yes, it was a nice quest unravelling the history of HQ. I have one mystery left... where are Les Edwards his original 3 paintings of the box covers? A vault? A wall at Hasbro CEO office? Anyone who works at Hasbro that has any kwowledge of the whereabouts? It belongs in a museum. Or at my wall ;-) ;-) ;-)
