It says $126 and PRE-ORDER, giving the approximate availability date of Dec 15th (less than a week away as of this post). If it were me trying to get a copy, this is what I would choose! If they screw it up I can complain directly to them.

I agree. If you’re in the US/Canada or have someone you really know and trust to act as proxy, this is the best bet. If anything does go wrong, you can be directly in touch with the manufacturer.

If using a proxy, I strongly suggest ordering in your name, with your credit card, just using your proxy’s shipping address. A friend of mine acted as proxy and purchased for me with their credit card. It meant I have been locked out of all backer communication and Hasbro/Avalon Hill insists on treating my friend as the backer, even after both my proxy and I have been in personal contact with them, begging to include me instead of them on updates. Things like the questionnaire about the app, I just lost out on participating in, while my friend couldn’t care less about it. It’s a real shame. If Avalon Hill/Hasbro ever does anything special for backers, it will go to my friend, not to me. My friend even withdrew from the mailing list, so I don’t even get forwarded updates. It’s a real shame. They need to make a dedicated mailing list just for HeroQuest, and let everyone in the world who wants to be part of the hardcore base join it.

In most cases afterwards I was glad I didn't join the KS, but not this time. Ah well.

I hear you. At that stage, we only had digital mock-ups. I may misremember, but I don’t even think we got confirmation of the different-colored plastics until after the campaign ended, or close to the end. Communication was not looking good. Promised site updates never happened, and have still not happened. I understand the regret, but you shouldn’t beat yourself up about it at all; Hasbro/Avalon Hill really dropped the ball with communication.

I backed it, but I was nervous the entire year that I’d backed something that wasn’t going to deliver. If it hadn’t turned out well, backers would be feeling a lot of regret now, too. As is, there is a glaring misprint on one of the most premium Mythic tiles, errors in the quest books, and figures shipping poorly assembled, damaged boxes being packed and shipped, dice that weren’t molded/painted properly. Your skepticism was absolutely warranted.

I really wonder if it’s a combination of the pandemic/shipping crisis. There are so many things truly out of Hasbro’s control right now, that I don’t blame them completely. I just wish communication was better.

I hope the bad timing and confluence of unfortunate events doesn’t dampen the triumphant return of this classic, though. I hope once Hasbro has enough stock in place, there’s a renewed, aggressive ad campaign to draw new players to the game system. And I hope that happens by spring 2022, though with continuing logistics challenges and a resurging pandemic, I don’t know.

Different times.

I really hope it’s like this again very soon.

Yeah the color coded miniatures was announced while the campaign was still going, which pushed me closer to pledging (the other was the revision of the Druid miniature... it all sounded like they were listening to fan feedback in the process). I didn't think those stretch goals would be reached (for example Stephen Baker's questbook Prophecy of Telor) but they were, so I ended up putting in for Mythic tier at the last minute.

But it's true, the whole campaign was so quick and quiet... probably most HeroQuest fans had no idea it was even going on. Most people don't spend their waking lives on social media (especially Twitter, believe it or not), hence they don't know about it. If they had had more mainstream advertising (even tv commercials or radio spots) they could have drawn a lot more people in and not had to embarrassingly miss those last few stretch goals (which they ended up giving us anyway, which was great even though I wasn't super pumped about them like some people, so we got 10 more quests a bunch of new tiles and a couple of new minis right?).

It's like the whole thing was more an experiment with how they could get something like this using a very small time marketing campaign in a really small window? The dearth of reliable communication from the end of the pledge drive until it started shipping was annoying. Sure back in the 80's we could expect something like that, but they started out acting like we'd get weekly updates (not just bi-weekly "humor" from "Zargon" on twitter). Even know we don't have much of a clue of their plans.

Still, it could have been a lot worse. If they produce their stuff in the USA from here on (and setup factories in the UK, Australia and Brazil) instead of China that could help them a lot. Back in the day they probably figured the whole Covid disaster would blow over in the year between the pledge and release day... I'm sure a lot of people did.

Would you pay a couple of dollars more for an entertainment product, knowing it would arrive sooner and with better quality control? I know I would. That strategy seems to be working for Reaper. |_P

Now I'm curious. What is it?
Do you have a pic?

I'm curious as well. I'm not aware of any other than the rather large "made in china" label on the big tavern tile (why didn't they put it on the edge in the bleed area?).

Perhaps the misprint of the grid lines in the rug? You may want to argue the tap on the barrel should be facing toward where the bartender would be expected to be serving and not where the rowdy customers could help themselves as a misprint- assuming drinks don't come with free refills ;)

Doing a comparison of everything in NA vs overseas vs relaunch and noticed an omission on the Hand Axe equipment card that I believe was just missed.

The hand axe appears identical to the previous one (just 50 more gold, darn inflation!) but there is no note stating that it cannot be used by the wizard.

Another interesting note are the Bracers. use to be 200 but now cost 550 and can be used by ANY hero, not just the wizard. Bracers were not in the NA version of the game except for the Elven Bracers Artifact (Elf only use).

I do wish they would have included equipment cards in the Mythic Tier box for Potion of Healing (200 GC, restores up to 2 BP) and the Potion of Magic (400 GC, regain 3 spells). The potion of Magic perhaps will be more useful to heroes that only get 3 spells per quest although it can greatly enhance the wizards arsenal as well (especially if combined with artifacts that also allow extra spells). Of course, maybe these are intended only for the Prophecy of Telor quests?

This thread will be of interest to you where we are discussing the errata of the remake edition...

Yeah the Elven Bracers were a totally different type of thing (not armor, just upgraded his Body and mind points, similar to the Amulet of the North for the Barbarian in his quest pack).

Regarding the new artifacts, they're only found in the new quests, so you either find them there or make up your own and put them wherever you want of course.

Yeah, I was talking about this. Sorry, I don’t have a photo. Don’t have hands on mine yet.

We need some GWS aficionados to translate that into the Warhammer fantasy version of China* to make it fit!

* I know, WHF isn't part of this version of HeroQuest, don't ruin my joke! ;)

Is there anybody left who ordered Mythic Tier who hasn't gotten their box yet?
