I like watching his playthrough. They went through the whole base game. Yeah, they got some rules wrong at first but later corrected.

by the way what's up with the inn logging me out all the time? I had to log back in twice while trying to post this...

Interesting. Fully painted, huh? That demo Remake Dwarf has massive proportions! He's going to look like a giant baby compared to the other Heroes, I expect, as opposed to them being massive giants, since the bases aren't getting bigger just because the figure is taller.

We know the actual release will be in solid colors (paint them if you want or leave them alone), so that's just a demo. The interesting "dice box" shaped like the tomb looks cool, but the scale is of course way off from the actual tomb we would expect as furniture in the game. The resin dice might also be a demo. I'm okay with plastic dice though varnished wood would certainly be nostalgic. Most of us had a problem with the black paint wearing off and the dice yellowing with use, so some extra protection there would be warranted.

As far as scale goes, I actually ordered a custom Hero Forge figure awhile back which has a 1x1 inch square base and its not that massive. The figure itself is pretty small. Granted, the proportions of Hero Forge figures aren't in that exaggerated "anime" style as these Remake Hero Quest figures, but still. Note: it is possible to play with the scale of the HF customs and make them "bigger" but by default they're pretty reasonable in size compared to the Classic HQ miniatures as you can see.

In the second image you can compare with some others (Classic Dwarf, Crossbowman, Frozen Horror, Giant Wolf)...

Here's a third image. Granted, this 1 inch base is square, so as others have pointed out, the Heroquest Remake bases are round and so they are likely to be smaller than this. Yes, the figures can "jut out" at the sides (as that Dwarf demo video indicates) but that's something we've always dealt with in Classic HQ with certain figures (Gargoyles, Fimirs, and later the Giant Wolves... at least the Ogres had adjustable limbs!).

In the picture below you see the Hero Forge 1 in base character, an example of a Zealot Miniatures "square" base, and an uxcell plastic end cap (trimmed and hastily painted) for comparison. Note the Ogre on the other side.

Point is, this 1 inch square base you see in the pics will be the same exact size as the Remake board squares. And so the miniature bases are going to be slightly smaller than that (probably just leaving the "sharp corners" exposed.

Edit: And I also see, no surprise, that the female Mummies are funded.

Orc26 wrote:So is it just me or does Mr. Manganello's stretch goal look like it can quickly be made into an expansion pack if/when we don't hit $4mil? Quest book, extra tiles, extra mini, throw a couple extra minis in there and it has everything the other quest packs have.

It does. The only thing is one big mini, vs. a bunch of minis as all Quest packs in the past (Classic and Remake) have been announced with. Of course what's more generic than having a quest where you fight a Dragon? If this goal flops, they could release it later as part of Hero Quest Remake or literally ANY generic tabletop RPG stuff.

These are digital files, so they don't have to 3d print them in resin or plastic, they could even sculpt them in metal. It could end up as a D&D thing, or even an ornament for some geek's mantelpiece.

They need to give us more on these new Quest packs other than the title if they expect us to get excited about them though...

I also see that the new Gargoyle (is that a female?) is basically just the same without any weapons. Same with the Abomination... it's a bit lumpier (female? )... no weapon. For consistency, I'd rather it had a different weapon than none, because it's going to just be a generic monster, same stats (unless you're modding).

I think we're unlikely to hit those goals anyway, unless they extend or have a second fundraiser period. Just seems like a tease (but not a very good one) to squeeze out a few more orders before Nov 6th at 11:59pm in whatever timezone.

I just had a thought. If they make the artifacts for KK and RotWL the back cover of the questbook like in the originals... I may go on a volence spree. (Not a real violence spree, but an angry words on the internet spree, which is kind of close...)

Always hated how we had to cut the cards off the cover. The front cover would not stay on after that. Hope they do change it.

They did the same with the Ogre monster cards in ATOH. It wasn't an issue with the UK versions of RotWL and KK. Basically because we didn’t get any cards with those expansions!

I should look at the non-us versions of the quests I know and love. There seem to be more differences than I assumed (considering there is an entire thread about it that is still going strong.)

The thought of no new artifacts with KK and RotWL feels wrong with me.
