Simply coloring the Minis would fix a big potential complaint many of us had. And then the furniture could be gray or brown like the originals. It's not unprecedented that they sell hand painted minis, but I'm guessing for nostalgia and cost saving they'll stick with solid color. Still, how hard would it be to change the digital mockups to reflect that?

Ah okay, some of us are less familiar with these crowd-funding terms and how they work. "Tier" means if people overall donate this amount, "Pledge" means you donate money but it doesn't necessarily mean you actually get anything when its done (right?). "Stretch Goals" are how much money they are trying to raise and if those things will become available if they get at least that much. After all is said and done, you are still buying a product (or not) and you can choose to buy the regular or fancy package with some exclusives and if you donated (?) you get special bonus items with your purchase.

Right now there is no game, only plans and concepts, but since these are major companies (with proper licensing), we're all trusting it will actually happen this time unlike the last anniversary fiasco.

Did I miss anything?

And so the game will not actually be shipping until around this time next year (once min fund raising has been met by Nov).

They will buy this game (if you market it and put it in regular stores) the same as if they will buy any other board game (beyond the "classics" like Clue, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, the endless character Chess Sets, Poker, etc). They re-released those crappy star wars board games for crying out loud (granted, they included "new" retro action figures and some probably bought them just for that) and they weren't anywhere close to $100 apiece new.

Again I think keeping this an internet exclusive targeted at hardcore hobbyist gamers is a big missed opportunity. There's certainly no harm in opening it up to the general public and cutting costs there would make a lot of sense. Maybe they should add some more tiers (to avoid tears)... $3 mil: Release in the UK; $4 mil: release to retail stores $5 mil: colored dice hand made in Germany.

Right now the general public has no idea this even exists. If they hear "Hero Quest" they'll think of the Bard and his beard, or "broodsword" jokes they saw on youtube.

Put out some cool commercials, advertise on social media (not just Twitter), throw it in stores. You're golden. Who would have thought Catan would become popular (granted that was just cardboard and colored wooden shapes) but still.

Again this is like making Monopoly into a deluxe package targeted at luxury collectors, rather than family game night type people looking for something new and/or nostalgic. The essence of Hero Quest was as a game FOR THE PEOPLE (not just hardcore role players, who already had D&D). If they had drastically expanded the game and made it into Warhammer Quest 2.0, I'd say sure, they ought to keep it as an online exclusive or sell it in specialty game shops and target collectors and hobbyists. If it is a limited run thing it will just go up in price and those people will be happy. I think whatever they can do to make it a mainstream release they should do so (even if that means adapting it into a cheap mobile game to generate interest beyond these forums and twitter). I'm not telling a big mega corp how to run their business, but I want to be able to be strolling through some big box store and point to the game section and be like "oh, this one is good, wanna pick it up" to a friend/family member. Even if they cut the price to $70, that'd be a good thing. Then they won't just sell to fans, they'll make more fans (not just the people we sucker--- I mean, invite into playing with our sets). ;)

Edit: I guess Zombicide is $95 (at least it is now).

What I can't wrap my head around is the cost of shipping. To ship where I live is going to be $120, that's just for the base set. I recently backed a different project that is set to ship this month, it has over 300 mini's and includes a board game, and an expansion. The shipping for that was about half the price of what Hasbro is asking.

The shipping is so expensive, because due to the game's weight, they can only roll 1 red die for movement.

(I guess that joke made no sense) :roll1:

I get that it's going to weigh a lot. So does 300+ miniatures, and cost to ship that was significantly less. It all depends on the shipping company you use too. Looks like they're using FedEx, they've always been pretty expensive in my opinion.

It'd be interesting to see how they calculated the weight of the those 3D renderings.

I feel your pain brother I’m in Winnipeg and shipping is ridiculous.
I’m okay with the price of the game and expansions $150 is peanuts for this amount of stuff but another $100 for shipping is ludicrous.
My blood bowl 2016 was $100 and didn’t even give you enough players to make a decent team you had to buy more teams at$50 a team.so on average you needed two team boxes to make a great team so $100 a team.
Kids wanted to play different teams so I wound up with orcs, humans, skaven ,undead, chaos, goblins, elves and dwarves plus ogres.the freaking game has cost me basically a $1000 dollars in 4 years and now they are putting out a new game and rules blood bowl 2020.
So I guess I’ll take heroquest at $150 and be done.....until further expansions drop...

So I'm curious does anyone know if the +2 goblins and skeleton goals equate to +4 of each in their respective expansion packs?
The originals just had reprint sprues of the minis in their box... but I highly doubt they are going the sprue route with these minis.

Everything looks good.....except the minis (those PC orcs.....the barbarian.....).

HQ without the GW minis isn't quite the same.

It's all about risk. Keep in mind this campaign is to cover the costs of the game, the vast majority of which are going to be the game pieces. Assuming they go with plastic, they have to pay for injection molds for each figure. Assuming the rats and skulls as one mold due to their size, that is currently 42 molds they'll need.

A single steel injection mold can cost in the neighborhood of $8,000-$10,000. That's $336k-$420k right there and they haven't made anything yet. But each piece will cost literally pennies to produce, so I kind of expect to see more "extra" minis thrown in as stretch goals if they need them.

If $2M worth of people pledge for the game, their costs are covered and they get to keep all the production elements. So if they want to reissue the game another 20 years down the road, they already own the expensive parts. I'm assuming the old molds are unavailable due to licensing issues.

The goblins remind me of the dwarf wrestlers in the Nacho Libre movie.
