If Ebay fails you, you may look into etsy. I get the feeling through all these comments that one thing is for sure: if Hasbro, Avalon Hill, etc. fails to give us what we were asking for, I have a hunch that enterprising people here will find a way to do it ourselves.

If the new game sucks but has good physical miniatures, or good cards, or tiles, etc. those could be appropriated for use in the old game or easily modified for that purpose. If it's a self-contained video game, not so much... other than providing fodder for inspiration of new projects.

Ya'll, if this is really an actual boardgame, its going to be epic. I kinda wonder if my emails I sent them a few years ago actually made it to someone at Hasbro?

if I recall correctly, you got your collection (with all expansions) for $200 from a seller at BGG. Nice investment, plus you got to play it with your kid!

You have a very good memory, although I spent a bit more than that on all the stuff I just sold. Even though I made a tidy profit, I still feel sad when I look at my game shelves and see only my original Game System and a few extra HQ minis. We never play HeroQuest any more and those expansions were never going to get used, but everyone (i.e. my grown children) has agreed to give this new version a try. I am excited to see the big reveal tomorrow, although I know some people will be disappnted no matter what the new game looks like.

I agree with you BlackThorn.
Everybody is excited. You know what I think ? Even with a few mishaps, I really do believe that true die-hard fans will modify and change the bothersome elements/rules of the new version. The magic of homebrew creativity runs in our veins for eternity, and nothing can extinguish this burning flame of passion for HeroQuest.

As a basic example ; I'm doing my own revamp of the Advanced HeroQuest Randomized Generator for the Dungeon, and I actually think some of my ideas are more appealing and efficient. I'm sure we will find our way around some minor disappointments with HQ2020

This is a fan page where we discuss HQ. The only real power Hasbro has from my understanding of copyrights is they can force us to take down the original material if Hasbro wanted to. They can't stop anyone from creating home-brew material that they would like to share or discuss about. Hasbro doesn't own the rights to the stuff anyone here makes, you may not be able to put the HQ logo on it however. I'm sure there is a little more legal stuff to it then that, but that is the basics of it.

We are not coping the game system or expansions to create a product to sell as our own to make a profit.

I may also add, that anybody can also play a Medieval Fantasy RPG that uses the same rules for Stat distribution and combat as D&D.
Basically, nobody has any power to stop people from implementing rules in other games, or doing homebrewed creations.
As long as we are not selling it as either HeroQuest or Dungeons and Dragons.
