Showdown Homebrew: Custom Combat Dice

Good day, Inn-mates!

I know it has been a while since I last shared anything from my Homebrew project. While I have been working on finishing up my furniture, I decided to take a little break before the last couple of pieces and get going on something I've had swimming around in my head for quite a while: making my own Combat Dice!

Below are a couple pics of the process, but if you want to see and read about the entire process of turning dollar store wooden craft cubes into usable, and visually pleasing (I hope) Combat Dice, you can check out my project site here: http://www.showdowndave.ca/heroquest/finishing.html

Here's a taste of how I did it:

If you didn't check out my project site, I do mention at the end that I plan to make another couple sets unpainted. I like the wood grain and think a set of dice would look pretty sharp with just the vynyl directly on the wood die faces. I'll post pics of them once I finish.

Feedback is welcome. Let me know what you think.

You called us inmates :D

I'm very curious to how they roll. Do they seem accurate? I'd give that a try myself if they work well.

Nice work! I'd love to get my hands on some more dice as my originals are getting rubbed off.

I did indeed call you that, pun intended.

And so far they roll quite nicely. Big reason I went with the rounded corners was to encourage a more uncontrollable roll, much like the original game dice. In my test rolls, they have been quite varied and random, so I'm confident in saying that if there is a bias, it is insignificant and unnoticeable.

I saw those on shapeway and debated buying them. I just don't think 3D printed is the way to go.

Homemade dice pretty much always looks amateurishly bad and I almost didn't even bother to open the thread.
But am I glad I did! Man! These look GOOD! |_P
