Hi, I thought I could share my painted figures with you and I await you comments. I prefer negative ones so I can use them to get better but positive ones are also welcome. No idea why the photos appear so big, can't do anything about it.

You may have noticed that Mummy is missing. That's only because I can't paint them decent enough. Sue me.

I really like these paintjobs! Well done! Love the kneecaps on the gargoyle. Where are the protrusions from his helmet?
And if you want constructive critisizm, post the mummy! ;)

Generally, very good paint jobs. I expecially like the zombie.
I'm really in no position do critic your work, as I never painted any of my minis, but as you explecitely asked:
many of the minis seem to be a bit shiny, making them look less natural (pitily the zombie, which I otherwise like best, seems to suffer most from this). May be due to the camera flash, however.
The wizar's face doesn't match the quality of the other figures.
Is the barbarian meant to be African?

A. you're right, they are shiny because of the flash but the zombie is really shiny in person. don't know why.
B. agreed about the wizard's face. that's mainly because he was already painted when I got him (as many of the other minis) and in an effort to scrub off the paint, I also scrubbed off many of the details and the face suffered the most damage. also it was one of the first I painted and it was done very sloppy.
C. your comment about the barbarian troubles me as I've heard similar ones before. I really like him this dark though. Maybe subconsiously I made him this dark as an overreaction to some pics I've seen him painted blonde! I was so shocked so that's how I acted out.

thanks very much for your good words.

No need - an African barbarian would be an interesting variant. Just was curious if was this what you intended.

Honestly, to me he looks like a very tanned caucasian, which is what a barbarian should be, having little clothes on, fighting in the sun all the time.
I have 2 barbarian mini's, and I'm paiting one tanned, and one dark brown, so I have both :D The dark one is missing his sword, so he'll be getting an axe.

I especially like the skin color on the chaos warlock. I'm not too fond of the cracks on his horns though. Why does metal horns have cracks? Maybe paint it bone with cracks instead? Or at least make the cracks black instead of purple.
I also think you should repaint the eyes on the elf (and perhaps the dwarf too). Make the pupils closer together. He looks kinda derp right now ;-P

It kinda looks like you are painting directly on the plastic? May I suggest you try spraypainting them first? I use black for my HQ minis. A thin base coat makes a huge difference when applying paint. You'll be like - holy *lemony goodness*!

Also the barbarian looks 100% ok to me! He should be tanned! :-)
All in all nice paintjob!

thanks for the feedback! I didn't think make them to be cracks on the horns, just some magic thingies. didn't really think about it.
the problem with the eyes is that I'm not so good at painting little details so when I have just an "ok" result I go with it.
I use black primer but a lot of the minis were already filled with paint so the best I could do was spray over that and then paint it.

Ah! Did you paint the bases to resemble their original plastic colors? :)
