Did you see the skel mods made by Georgeous of the Gorge?
In case not - here ya go!
Image
wizard one has staff and material hood & cape; part of the sickle in right hand is supposed to be a scroll
fighter skel has extra skulls cut in half to make armor and flat skulls; check other pic to see DOUBLE scythe - which was melted and twisted, added twine. On leg is wrapped elastic band!
original mod - melted and twisted scythe and red (bloody or burning, depends on the GM) paint scheme.

I'm being creative.
Of course, most of my ideas are born from cliché or from other people like some of you.

Take a gander:

Oh, and the Chaos Champion... painted before I got him.
The Mod was a test. You know, cutting that bitchy face off and fitting something new in there...

I like what you guys have done to your minis, so maybe you can provide me with some advice. I'm working on a mini for my Legacy of Sorasil Quest pack, basically I am making an elven mage named Venthrax. I found a mini that should work, except that he is tall. Part of this is due to some strange ball of magic or something that he is "floating on" I want to cut that off and put him on a classic square base, but then he has a huge freaking cape that I need to cut off. I'll post a few photos for examples, if you have suggestions please chime in.

This is Venthrax next to a few familiar baddies for height comparison. I drew a yellow line to show where his feet end. I would like to cut off everything below that.

This is another height comparison. You can see that I cropped Venthrax to show only the feet and up, and then lowered him to a level roughly even with the other miniatures. Notice that he is still a little tall. Do you think this is a problem?

This is a side view of Venthrax. You can see that he has a huuuuuuge cape, but he also has a long stole, both of which would need to be shortened to fit him flat on a base. He is currently leaning somewhat forward but in this photo I have levelled him out a little.

I really don't know why you don't like the cape, it makes him truly impressive. I think he is really a bit too big (as tall as the gargoyle). My advise would be to leave him as he is. Having him floating a centimeter over the ground will help to conceal the scale difference. Just include it in your background story. He's a mage, after all.

Oh, no, I don't dislike the cape, but if I were to cut the stuff out from under him and put him on a classic base the cape would hang lower than his feet, this particular mage could never walk without a stiff wind or else his cape would constantly drag on the ground. However, I certainly will consider leaving him on his magic ball thing.
