Ye Olde Inn

I found Caesar Fantasy miniatures and Wargames Factory miniatures on the web and wanted to see if anyone else has tried these. They look like they might be a little to small compared to HQ ones. Opinions?

If these are in the "normal" 1:72 scale, they are too small. There are lots of nice and cheap 1:72 figure lines out there, but they will look really odd when used together with 28mm minis:
- 28mm would translate to a scale of about 1:64, so 1:72 is per se smaller.
- 1:72 minis are normally more "realistic" and less "heroic" in their proportions, i. e. less heavy built, so looking even smaller
- the producers of 28mm models - most significantly Greed Workshop - tend to cheat about scale, many "human-sized" figures are 30mm or taller.

Is Games Workshop word filtered? XD

That's what I thought, to bad the minis look good and very affordable. I wonder why they don't make the same type in a bigger size.

I don't know what minis you're interested in.
Maybe the skeletons could be undead [insert race here].

The undead could be halflings or gnomes. I agree they are cheap but would work better if bigger size.

So a box of Mantic Skeletons is always the better solution, I think.
Not that pricey, as well.

If you want Mantic Skeletons, buy the Mantic Starter box : Mhorgoth's Revenge (or Return, a second edition of the same box). I bought that one for a mere €40,- and it has over 100 models. 4 sprues of undead skeletons and revenants (skellies in fancy armour), zombies, ghouls, a few skeletal dogs and a bone catapult with crew, plus you get a whole dwarf army with crossbowdwarfs, rifledwarfs, shield and weapon (axe, hammer) dwarf troops, command and you can convert up to 5 of them into 2-handed hammer wielding dwarfs, oh and some cool drunk/dead dwarfs and bulldogs too, and another long range weapon: the dwarven cannon plus crew! Amazing value there, and those dwarves are fun to paint.

Found this link you can get 50 orcs or dwarfs for about $12.50. Thanks for all the good links with some great deals.

Those are from an old Italian boardgame called "Fantasy Warriors".
The minis aren't that bad, definitely better than DragonStrike minis and fit well into HeroQuest.
A nice color scheme and you have evil Dwarfs.
As for the Orcs, their faces are similar to HeroQuest Orc faces, their size and composure are in line with HeroQuest though these are a little more slim and not quite that stocky.

The problem with these minis is they have really big bases (which have a similar shape to HQ bases, however) and not that much detail.
I know what I'm talking about as I owned some of them and re-sold them.

Oh, and they come in a slightly greenishor blueish dark grey if they are the originals and not a newer re-cast.
If you want to stuff your dungeon they are one way to go.
Weapon choices for Orcs are always welcome.
