We have the concept art for those. My way would involve remaking all of those minis, especially the female Elf and Barbarian, in the same scale as the original Heroquest miniatures. I would take that fur-cape/hammer wielding Dwarf variant design and have it rendered female, also.
@Decipher - I own a company that produces miniatures, but I just recently sold off my fantasy range to another company. If we organize a kickstarter, and you footed the cost of the first green, we could seriously get this project rolling. Jewels has suggested that having at least one green sculpted and ready would be the thing.
I know pretty much all the oldschool miniature people, too. I know the Ral Partha guys, a few of the Grenadier guys, and at least two of the original Citadel guys. Mark Evans, who apprenticed beneath Kev Adams, would be my first choice as sculptor. He's actually a personal friend of mine over facebook, and has sculpted one miniature for me in the past. Promoting the campaign would not be hard.
Very recently my friend who owns Center Stage Miniatures has has three very successful kickstarters for old-school style miniatures that have each rounded off over 40k in funding. We do not need nearly that much.
We need a list of all the figures to be remade or made new. We need to prioritize them somehow. We need to then break them into funding groups relative to kickstarter. Knightcrawler, you'd be my first choice to do this, because you seem to have plastic minis in your blood.
My guys at Valiant can produce them in white or grey resin. Also, here is the miniature I had sculpted by Mark Evans:
