Spookyhappyfun's Instruction Book Addendum

Hey, everybody! I haven't been around or keeping up with the Inn as much the past few years, but I've been slowly and steadily working on my game while I've been away. I got a group together last year and we've been playing through the main campaign (almost 2/3 of the way through so far!) and it's been fun putting many of my extra things to use and seeing how the game progresses and how interesting it is with added cards, monsters, tiles, updated Quests, and most importantly, updated rules.

Since I've been away, I wanted to contribute a little back to the group that's given me so much over the years. Attached is a copy of my current rules addendum. I still need to add some items (traps and such) from The Frozen Horror, but it currently includes all of my homebrew rules, additional rules from most of the official quest packs (some edited and with slight variations made by me), as well as some rules from community-based quest packs and ideas I've gotten from other Inn members and fans over the years.

Many of the rules I have here rely on new cards that I've gotten from various sources, but especially here on the Inn. Hopefully you can find many of the referenced card sets or are able to find similar cards for your use. And aside from the cards, I have most of my other (always works in progress) quest packs, rules, and other items found at the link in my signature in case you want to look through or use any of those.

Thanks and happy Questing!

Also, if anyone sees any minor errors or anything, or notices areas that don't make sense or could use some clarification, or otherwise has any suggestions, please let me know! I'm happy to add to it and update it.

Thanks for sharing! There are some good, even great ideas in here.

Obviously some of them you've adapted from the newer remake expansions (namely Rise of the Dread Moon) and some community stuff. It's neat to see someone else's house rules. Some of them are a little heavier on the RPG elements (more stuff for Zargon to keep track of!). But some of them are close to what I do (for instance gaining potions from the Alchemist's Bench, or "counter attack" reminding me of my "wrestling moves" though a bit more complicated). I think we've only used the Parley Deck once or maybe twice in our dozens of hours of streamed quests, but it's there if anyone does want it (rarely do you encounter a single non-boss monster in a room these days however to even attempt it, I see you made it easier to try).

Using all of these together may sometimes make the quests go longer, but to some play groups, that's a perfectly acceptable goal. |_P

Thanks! The Alchemist's Bench came from Rise of the Dread Moon, but the Spell Research for the Sorcerer's Table I think is something I think I saw from someone else and is a fun way (along with the Alchemist's Bench Potion Crafting and the AxianQuest Furniture Deck) to have more interaction with the furniture and it also allows onetime use of some of the more powerful spell cards that I've picked up over the years. It's all definitely more for Zargon to keep track of, but I've found that it helps keep things more interesting and keeps the party more engaged. I'm sure the original rules would have worked fine for a group back when I was younger (though I never got to play more than a few times with my brothers), but as adults all the variety and spontaneity helps a lot, especially in a world with so many more complicated dungeoncrawlers. I don't know that my group would still be excited about playing without it.

Thanks!

I'm also working on a version 3 of this Addendum book adding in rules for special tiles, a few more traps, updating a few rules, and cleaning up the overall look and layout of the document. It's looking a lot bigger and better and I'm hoping to post it soon.
