Soul Sword, Rune Sword, Mithril Armour, Amulet Of Protection

This completes the set. The Ring Of Sorcery is equivalent to the Wand Of Recall, the Soul Sword is equivalent to Orc's Bane, the Rune Sword is equivalent to the Spirit Blade, Mithril Armour is equivalent to Borin's Armour and the Amulet Of Protection is equivalent to the Talisman Of Lore, the Chaos Staff is it's own thing. This doesn't mean that their powers are exactly equal to the original quest treasures and of course there's no reason why you couldn't use these with the originals. I had plenty of room to add some fluff text to these. I can't find the amulet of protection at the moment, it just gives immunity to fire and ice based attacks.

If you don't like the armour is spelt then it's your own fault for all the times you lied when you claimed you speak English. :)

Edit:
Just spotted a typo on the mithril armour, I'll fix it tomorrow.

It may be argued that if you introduce the Soul Sword as "This short sword...", then the last sentence is abundant as this specification is already in there.
As the EWP, you just could point out the linguistics and set a precedence about reading and interpreting rules. It's what opened my eyes and exactly how my and Andreas' icons and Slev's key words work.

Same for the Rune Sword ("This broadsword...") and Mithril Armour ("This chainmail..."), of course.

I feel that for Mithril Armour, the sentence beginning with "Such is..." is abundant functionwise because the specification is already in "whenever you defend". However, for fluff and filling the space it's just fine.

I like all items you've come up with over the last few days and will probably take them into my next batch.

I agree with this. Seems like the more elegant solution.
While absolute clarity is nice, most players aren't (totally) retarded after all.

For the mythril, consider changing he wording as follows:

This armour allows you to roll three combat dice when you defend.
Additionally, while wearing this armour, you count black shields as white shields when you defend.

It's less text, clearer, and does the same thing!

You'd have to add "EXTRA" to the first sentence.

I might have to change the rune sword. At the moment it stands less than a 1 in 12 chance of doing more damage than a broadsword.

Each dice stands less than a 1 in 36 chance of the sword rules making a difference, in in six of rolling a black shield and then 1 in 6 that the defense dice would have been a black shield, so that's 1 in 36 and there's three attack dice so 1 in 12 but it's less than that because you could roll black shields with no skulls. That's hardly a "powerful sword".

There's a few options. Black shields = -1 black shield to the defense roll, white shields = -1 defense dice, black shields = skulls, or even black shields = auto damage. Or I could just leave it. It's still the best one handed weapon for attacking anything other than undead.

I'm going to rename the mithril armour to relic armour. Mithril is crossing fantasy worlds and the WH has it's own equivalent, gromril I think unless that's something else. I might use that for a rare non-magical armour like my dragon scale armour. Relic armour also fits the fluff text better and sounds cool as well. I might change the rune sword to rune blade as well for the same reasons and to make it sound more different to the soul sword. I can't call that the soul blade because that's taken.

There's a few very good reasons for this.

First, in the UK rules the wizard can use any quest treasure because they're magic so the what it is doesn't matter.

Second, shortswords in the UK rules can attack diagonally and I don't want the soul sword to be able to do that because the chaos staff already does it and it would make the standard diagonal weapons a bit redundant.

Third, the armour isn't chain mail, it's scale mail which I've got my own rules for. I like it to match the picture and I couldn't say that it can be used by characters that can use scale mail because I want them to be modular like all my stuff and usable in everyone's rules.

Forth (and this is a very technical/picky reason), although they're a broadsword/shortsword/chainmail they're not a Broadsword/Shortsword/Chainmail because those items are already described and available as equipment.

It's because it also applies to any additional defense dice to keep it simple, but in an in-game context why would it work for other armour? I think the wording kind of sells the idea. I also think it just sounds nice, such is the power! :)

Awesome! :) Thank you, that's the best compliment custom stuff can get. |_P

THREE EXTRA defense dice! That would be a tad OP. :) I think you're thinking of how the US versions are worded.

D'oh! I was thinking of my own game... sorry.
