This is a concept co-developed by Dayio and myself.
Potion of Retribution
This blood-red metallic-flavoured liquid may be taken before any Defend roll. Each skull rolled during defence scores as a counterattack hit against the attacker. If the attacker rolled any of their shields during their attack, those shields count as a defend roll against the counterattack. The attacker may not roll separate Defend Dice.
This would also make a cool/dangerous Special Ability for a Monster.

I like how this is intrinsically weighted.
You want two different symbols, but not too few or too many.

I like that you dug up a nearly ten years old topic.

Nice find, Knightkrawler

There are some gems among the unanswered posts.

2008 must of been a quieter time on here. I'm surprised there's not the usual amount of debate over wording and mechanics pros/cons.
Edit: I suppose there's not much to say, other than it's a good idea and perfectly worded.
I may use this for my Fimir 'Tail Bash' counter attack, it's a much better idea. It's too long for simple 1 page rule mods though.

Yeah, it's actually quite nice right of the bat. I like it.
Either you roll shields and defend or you roll skulls and do damage (though in reality you actually roll 4 black shields...).

Nice necro KK, I really like how you don't roll any more dice, neat.
Could make a nice constant special ability as well with some tweaking, like you can't be injured or roll any black shields to counter attack.

Mechanically it makes sense to use it after an attack right before you roll defense dice, but story-wise, I feel like it should be used on your turn during combat to take effect on the next attack against you since it doesn't really make sense that someone swings at you and you quickly down a potion right in that split-second.

"Wait! Don't swing yet. I have to drink this."
Perhaps it can be drank at anytime and takes affect on the next time the Hero is attacked.

Potions can be drank at any time.
Pretty sure I saw that rule in there somewhere but maybe I am daft, forgetful and making it up as I go...
edit to add: no not daft
The NA rulebook says "As a Hero, you may drink a potion at any time. "
