How bad is your HQ Addiction

Just a fun post to see how obsessed people are with Hero Quest.

I will start by saying I have been described by both my friends and my kids as having Gamers OCD.
Once I like something I have to have everything for it. But that is not enough I have to create my own
references for everything.

Star Wars? Yup 7.82 Gigs of Files. Over a thousand Ship Layout and Stat sheets. Bases, expanded
character list of stats and abilities, expanded Occupations, expanded Force Powers. It goes on and on.

Battletech? Oh you know it, Been a fanatic since I preordered the original Battledroids.
18.1 Gigs of Files. Everything from pictures, to Planet descriptions, Mech Designs, and every possible
reference for Battletech, Battlespace, Battletroops, Battleforce, Aerospace, Mechwarrior, Mercenaries. Etc.

Heroquest? Its just a Board Game our parents got us at Toys R Us when we were kids right?
Yup you guessed it. Obsession overload. 11.4 Gigs of Files. Every possible Quest ever written,
Floor Tiles, New Spells, Equipment, Monsters, Characters, References, Art, etc. etc.

I carry a 256 Gig Thumb Drive at all times. Currently I have a little over 90 Gigs used up, my goal is to fill it
with nothing but files for Games.

Anyway, sort of an Introduction. HI Im James and I have Gamers OCD......

How about you?

I've got a fever... and the only prescription... is more Heroquest!!!

Probably that I bought game systems for my brother-in-law & sister AND another friend from our gaming group (who already owned one, but his was in storage in another state) just so we could play together more easily.

That I re-created the missing expansions using Reaper minis for my brother's set....

That I insist on professionally printing my homebrew cards instead of just putting them on slips of paper thickened with cardstock in sleeves.

I've almost filled one flash drive with files.

And I backed the Mythic tier and ordered the Knight expansion.

I have been addicted to many things in my life. None have last as long as this one. I been doing this longer than sex. Sorry if I can't use that word.

I backed the mythic edition (I played the game years ago, and liked it)
I've ordered the Knight expansion.
I found a set of Dragon Strike boards on Ebay.
I tracked down most of the tiles from the 2002/2003 DnD board game that was only available in the UK.
I have the game boards from the Dragon Quest game on the way.
I have purchased the entirety of the Sword and Sorcery board game system just to use the minis in HQ (and S&S has a great monster AI that I plan to adapt for HQ solo play, because I can't get the HQ app to work.)
I also plan to start homebrewing my DnD mini collection for HQ (more than 2K minis)
and I joined this board, and have actually posted things (my introverted self never does this...)
:)

Well. When I had to decide what to keep and what dlti give away, somehow Heroquest is always on the keep list.

If the addiction is measured in Gigabytes, then I have a problem. I just took a look. 40 GB of data, 20 homebrew versions of other people...

Not to mention a cupboard full of minis and no intention to stop buying

It hurts a bit that I couldn't put my hands on the new quest books yet, with one exception.

haha, Yeah I have done a clean out of my games 3 times. Heroquest is always in the keep pile.
With the new release of the game, I have been digging through my closets. I honestly forgot
just how much stuff I have. multiple copies of Dark World still untouched , everything on sprues and unpunched.
4 sets of Battlemasters never even opened. Same for Dragon Strike and Dragon Quest. Then there is the ancient
Dark Tower. That one is showing some wear, but still 100% complete and in the box. I would love to find another.
Its funny because Heroquest was always the base game for me, but I pretty much got anything that had minis I could use, haha.
Warhammer fantasy Battle I really went wild on. I have a gold mine of old Empire Minis still in blisters.

After all the posts Ive seen, and pics I think the one fan made thing I would really like to get a set of, are the card sets.
Monster, Treasure, Artifacts, Equipment, Spells. I have seen some nice ones. And actually more than one fan made Quest pack
that looks dang well made.

Hi my name is Tony and I’m an HQ addict.
I have been addicted for 30 years.
I own several originals and ordered the mythic tier new release + knights and waited a year just to hold it…
My originals have been with me for 30 years.
No figure is ever broken they just become kitbashed.
Even now I feel the urge to purchase another copy of the base game….
