Ye Olde Inn

I just got a mini I bought from someone on ebay that came fairly damaged. The staff is bent and broken in a place that it seems would require a lot of force. There is at least one huge spur coming out of her elbow. I'll quit describing it and post a pic.



It seems unlikely it got damaged in the mail, but it is possible I guess. Would you complain? ask for a refund? or fix it as best you can and just avoid that seller in the future?

i've recently received about a dozen reaper minis.
the bent staff is quite easily repaired. i don't know if you opened it yet but it's a very soft metal and easily bent. You can just move it to the appropriate place.

the thing sticking out of the elbow, is just excess metal, their figures have a lot of these, nothing to worry about.

the broken staff however seems troubling. Maybe it's supposed to be like that?
So far I think that's your only worry if anything is.
Either way I don't think it's the seller's fault, but perhaps you should ask him about it.

Yeah, I was all excited about a nice female wizard for my gf to paint herself and even play with sometimes. After driving 250 miles today in a wintry mix with a blizzard on my heals I was really looking forward to it when I got home.

The bend and spur shouldn't be a problem, and the staff can be glued and covered with liquid green stuff. It just sucks to have to fix something that is new (well, still in the package, anyway).

I'll see what the seller thinks, but I'm gonna go ahead and open it.

I'm just letting you know that a friend who ordered directly from reaper got the exact same issues (mostly bendings, not actual broken parts though).

Every miniature that I have ever had came in this condition or worse--its normal. Cleaning metal miniatures is just part of the deal. You will need to wash it and remove mold-creasing and bits of flash with a knife or a file. The staff is cleanly broken, and can be mended with super-glue in mere moments and with little effort.

yeah that wouldn't phase me at all those issues are fixed in about 1 minute so really no bother. one reason I like metal is to some degree you can change poses on your mini with alittle strategic bending

Took me longer than a minute cause I'm a perfectionist with these things, but her staff is now glued and perfectly straight from all angles. I won't even need to fill any gaps. The staff was kinda bent a little at each node at the top, and the arm itself was off a bit. Sanded all the mold lines and oxidized spots, glued her to a base from thantos, and I believe she is ready for priming. (as soon as it gets a little warmer around here)

I should bend her arm so she's raising it above her head.

You can prime right away, if you keep the can inside in room temperature, shake it there, have a box or something to spray in outside, go out, spray a layer, take it all back inside again to dry. Repeat until fully primed. Thin layers.
As long as the can is room temp and the model cleaned, you should be fine.
