Recasting - worthwhile or fool's quest?

Hi,

I've recently been rebuilding and repainting my HeroQuest collection to a standard that I wasn't capable of when I was 11! (I'll shove a blog/thread with pics up once I've got them sorted).

One thing that has been driving me mental is... yes you guessed it, the candle sticks. I have one in perfect condition and one in about 10 pieces. I'd originally thought I might be lucky and find one on eBay but they really are like rocking horse poop. So I was wondering, has anyone ever tried making a reproduction by taking a mould of a good candle stick?

I was thinking about trying to do this and then cast a new one using liquid green stuff just to see if it can be done. Am I on to a winner or just going to drive myself mad and ruin my good candlestick?

Thanks!

Firstly, welcome to the Inn :) I think it's worthy to recast candelsticks, but don't try to get ours ;)

Welcome to the Inn!

I think Thantos is going to work on casting very similar candlesticks. Someone from the forum bought a new sprue of candlesticks on the bay yesterday (I think Hero Of Retro if I recall correctly). We're hoping he will get in touch with our house-caster thantos so he can make some based on the looks/size of the originals :P

We also have two fine Greeks casting all the rare minis from the EQP and BQP and WoM, and even AtOH. Patroclus (metal/pewter) and Billdask (resin). PM them ;)

PS: liquid green stuff shrinks, so it might turn out badly.

Thanks for the welcome!

Ah interesting. I've already been in touch with Billdask about some of the rare US figures. ;-)

So what is Thantos recasting besides candlesticks?

Whoa whoa whoa, the term is simply "casting", recasting is illegal and highly naughty.Sarcasm: Especially on a 25 year old board game which is no longer sold so doesnt damage any companies profits in any way ... /Sarcasm

<.< .... >.>

Step into the back room, and we'll talk on PM :P

Oops - I stand corrected. Shame on me for suggesting such a thing! ;-)
