Hope you like it, kind of a transition from somewhat easy first 3 Quests to a harder chapter. Was trying to Introduce the new monsters for this section without getting complicated with special things right away in the first Quest. Kobolds are known for their traps, so you see lots. They also like to ambush!

"Some local farmers are reporting that some of their livestock have turned to stone, while others are just missing. Sources are pointing towards caves in the near hills. Prove your worth to the Emperor and investigate this annoyance to his people."

A. Heroes start on the overland tile and finish on the stairway.

B. The first Hero to search for treasure will find the Kobold's Bane Artifact lying on the floor beneath the Basilisk.

C. The Kobold Trickster will instantly attack then escape through the secret door before the Hero finishes their turn. Remove the monster figure from the board.

D. This chest contains a dart trap that will inflict 1 BP of damage if not disarmed. The chest contains 75 gold coins.

E. This Fimir knows all the Swamp Spells.

So, I guess this will be part of a two-quest-pack or three-quest-pack? Getting down the stairway?

For me it's difficult to see the difficulty right away :-) I like that there are three "caves" and one of them even contains our basilisk.

New players discover the "Secret door" concept here. That's a good one.

I like that quest.
Has everything a fourth quest needs for beginners.

One note: I know it's the wording from original HeroQuest, but we can start improving things.
Under C, instead of "...before disarming the trap." --> "...before the trap has been disarmed."
The wording as is implies that only the hero who disarms the trap may take the treasure and vice versa.

This is a 5 Quest Chapter.

I believe I read somewhere that Quest writers put generic notes to get their point across and then one person will re-word the whole Pack to make sure the wording flows.

... Or you share the text directly here, then anybody could quote & edit.
We wanted to put Kobold's Bane somewhere (see artifact thread). Would you put it rather here or rather one quest later?

Edited the Quest.

I think the artifact works best here so it gets more use.

In room C, the Kobold Trickster would escape through the hidden door before the Hero entering the room can finish his turn ... doesn't this immediately reveal the Secret Door, without requiring a search action? Makes the "Secret" part of that door a bit redundant :P.

In any case, in the original quest packs when we had a monster escaping through a secret door, we always opened it and revealed the contents behind it.

True, the secret door isn't necessary but thematically I thought it sounded better than a regular door.

There's nothing beyond the door to "reveal" so I didn't bother with a note about revealing beyond.

On Note B,
it might be nice to present it with a treasure chest, no?
