Any one still make re-cast minis for hero quest expansions?

Ive been looking to get ahold of the miniatures for all the expansions for hero quest. mostly looking for the barbarian and elf pack minis but I'm also looking for the European pack minis as well. I found out billdask no longer makes his minis and it seems there is no one on the internet that still makes them. So I'm wondering if I'm just not looking in the right places or does no one really make these anymore?

I was wondering the same thing. I found one guy who is, but his prices are outrageous for 15 minis it was almost $100.
I'm thinking that it might be cheaper to 3D print them... I could probably buy a 3D printer and produce my own for less than it would cost me to get the ones I need.

I thought about that too but you need a original figure to scan so you can print them also the lower end printers don't pick up on the small details like casting does. where can I find the guy you mentioned that doe them?

Kapten kelz has made scans for most of them, here.
Recasts would be still cheaper (and of better quality than anything a non-professional 3D printer can do), if someone would have the molds or take the effords to make new ones.
Anyhow, I'm glad Kapten kelz is doing this and I will definitely use his models for a "special" project I'm doing.

Perfect thank you. I went and took these to two different 3d printers to see how they would come out and here's some samples of the first place ( second place hasn't gotten back to me)

they look no where near as much detail as the originals but its kind of all I got a this point and I don't really care if there not perfect. the yeti did have some kind of extra plastic in the mouth but he said he could fix that. so I guess ill wait for the 2nd guy to respond with his test prints and ill see which I choose. I'm really excited to be able to even get something to use for the expansions. now only if someone had 3d scans of the 3 other ogres, the men at arms, and zargons 3 wizards id be set.

Wow, I didn't expect to see them printed so soon.
From the pictures I can tell this was a home-based (non professional) printer.
You will never get near the detail needed for miniature making with these (at least not at the current point of developement).
I agree that Kapten Kenz' scans leave some room for more detail, but I'm glad they are there. To get whatever detail they have into the finished product, you need a higher precision (=professional) printer. Send the models to Shapeways, Sculpteo or the like.

Stratos kindly helped out with providing some of the rarer models :P I will have some casts sorted for some of the expansions in the next week or so.

The photogrammetry scans are cool, but, as you mentioned, they have lost a lot of the detail, unfortunately :( If you eliminate all specular reflections by painting (airbrushing) the plastic a matte white (http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/1211_1_1007292.html) and then take your photos in an ambient light (lightbox) to eliminate all harsh shadows - you will get even better 3D data :)
Are you using points markers when taking your photos? On a sheet of paper, under the model for example?

I can't speak for Kelz, of course, but I don't have the resources to do so. I have a copy of the base game at home, burried in some box from my last moving, plus lots of surplus figures (ebay purchases), including the wizards of morcar and the ogres, stored in a hobby room I share with some friends. While this room gives plenty of opportunities, much more materials and tools than any one of us could have individually, plus the experience exchange - but there are things it is not fitted for, including taking professional photos.
I took my wife's handheld camera there, put the figures on a paper towel under a desktop lamp and took as many photos from different angles as I could.

But he hasn't made models from my photos yet, the models he uploaded are all by himself. So we have to wait for the outcome.

If I can help you with ogres, mercenaries, or the evil wizards, let me know.

Yea the first guy is a home based operation but kinda does that stuff on the side. The second guy is an actual business. So well see how his come out supposedly hes got s better setup.also if we could get all of the expansion figures scanned hand have complete sets I think it would help alot of people out here. At least it gives people options.

So i have found a person that does in fact still make re-casts of the minis for all the expansions. Ive seen some pictures of them and they look pretty nice better than any 3d printed ones ive seen.thanks to DarakuTenshi for sending me his info i really appreciate it. if any one else is interested you can find him here. https://www.facebook.com/Mondojose he is vary nice and his prices are alright better than buying each expansion individually. based on his prices you could buy all the expansions with all the figures, cards, tiles, and booklets for about $342 us and 306 euro. not great but not horrible hell of a lot better than buying 1 expansion for $300 according to ebay..
