iKarth, thinking back I'm guessing there were at least 12 orcs destroyed in that double corridor at the end. It felt like more but I was getting tired. Would you agree?

12 like just at the end? Yeah, in addition to all the ones we killed throughout the rest of the quest.

Too bad the game system doesn't really have anything that deals area of effect damage, and if you give that to the heroes, chaos champions will get it too eventually. OTOH … that was quite the brutal knock-down, drag-out battle. The map you used put the exit pretty far from where we found Ragnar, so it allowed QUITE the army to build up in front of us. Had to get a bit clever to get him out.

Even if we'd known what to do to get him moving and given him pass through rock … we couldn't have gotten him out very quickly.

It was a pretty awesome solution, some of the highlights of the game for me, those moments.

Yeah my Mystic Hero has "wall of fire" that would stop monsters (unless they want to take 3 dice worth of damage) but then you could give Sir Ragnar Fire Resistance and have him run through (still needs veil of miss/vanishing/dust of disappearance to pass monsters). It only blocks one square, but could use the wand to do a second spell, wall of water to block the other square (have Ragnar jump through the orange block, not the blue one!).

Completed today's session with Quest 3: Lair of the Orc Warlord! The Heroes had a good run of luck and nobody died this time. An ingenius use of Combat Cards allowed the Heroes to capture Ulag ALIVE and, his henchmen destroyed, escort him to the stairs. He will stand trial for his crimes against the Empire not least of which, the imprisonment and torture of Sir Ragnar.

I added an extra room of reinforcements for Ulag to call upon, but even setting aside the fact that the four Heroes are champions now (and having to contend with random elite monsters!), they still had a jolly good run through the dungeon, gathering gold (not to mention a bunch of potions) and taking names. We shall look forward to their further adventures!

Next Zoom games will be tentatively set for May 21st-22nd (I probably won't be able to play the following weekend... though who knows, I may be playing in person with family by then!). Contact me if interested...

After slaughtering likely his entire village's worth of kith and kin, we dragged that Orc bastard before the emperor in chains un a humiliating display for a show trial where his guilt was presumed from the start. Ulag spent most of his time glaring at Ragnar, who ordered that he be beaten any time the orc so much as opened his mouth to speak. Which he did, several times, as though he had something important to say… All he ever said to us was, "Pink things do not know their enemy." Whatever that was supposed to mean.

During the trial, brave Sir Ragnar, the emperor's most trusted knight, told all assembled that he had rarely seen such valor and bravery when we rescued him! It is no wonder we were named Champions! And then, to bring his captor to justice as our very next act? Remarkable service to the Empire! Ulag thought this was funny, but was quickly silenced.

The condemned was drawn and quartered and then burned. Sir Ragnar himself gave the order.

Stories are being told already of the fate of Ulag and the champions responsible…

I hoped I'd be there—what better way to celebrate level-up day than battling the minions of Dr… ::lol: no, I can't do it! … the minions of CHAOS! I just couldn't actually move earlier. *sigh* I see the oncologist Monday. The question is: Try to mess with it, or … accept that this process takes months and it's rather uncomfortable at times in the meantime. Beats the alternative—but this kind of stuff is more or less why I dropped out from Biff's forum months ago.

Not going anywhere this time though. :p
