Man... Someone really dropped the ball along the line! MB... Why did you stop making Hero Quest?

But nerdtastic info indeed!

:| My face when:
There is a new photo showing the centaur but not the minotaur blatantly laying underneath...

The new 3 sketches are very nice, indeed. Looking at the card for the Elven Archer and the Kueker archer sketch, I'd say they both represent the same figure and pose. Everything but the hair and the corner of the cape are pretty much identical.

I'm glad the Sabertooth Tiger is posed with a swiping claw rather than a leap, as it serves to differentiate it from the Giant Wolf. I would have gone one step further and put it in more of an arched crouch, accentuating the power of its back even more...still, it's an awesome-looking beast!

The Minotaur is every bit as cool as I hoped for. I love that it has both a Battle Axe and a (Short)sword! We're lookin' at 6 combat dice for its attacks. Count him as having a Broadsword instead, and you can up that to 7 dice. Add in the horns in the Quest notes, and you can up the limit to 9 dice! Unholy Cow!

This is all very interesting!

Who owns the IP for all this?

From what I've gathered, Hasbro has owned it since they acquired Milton Bradley. All of the prototype figures are protected by a non-disclosure agreement signed by their employees. They were gifted to a non-employee HQ-fan on the condition that he wouldn't get anyone in legal trouble by sharing unreleased content with us, the hungry public. Apparently the sketches are another matter, so we are getting a glimpse of what could have, no-should have been.

We may get recreations, however, from a sculptor who has interest in HQ. He has previously done the Fimirs for Blood Moon Miniatures. The look may differ a bit, but if done they should be great. It would be great if there was some accomanying info about the original Quests that were planned. As that is currently unlikely due to non-disclosure, perhaps a fan or two might instead have a go at it. Wizard and Dwarf Quests have been done before, but new monsters are coming to light. I believe Toco is planning to do just that with his dungeon-crawler mod, Allied HeroQuest.

I'm just happy that Hasbro tolerates our efforts to upkeep and expand HeroQuest material at sites like this one. Good thing they had a falling-out with Games Workshop, otherwise lawyers most-likely would have sent us cease-and-desist orders, as they did with Warhammer Quest sites.
