I've never liked or even understood the collector's market for mint stuff.
That's exactly how I feel about Nintendo NES games. Those videos of guys losing their minds, spending thousands of dollars, driving 8 states away, fist fighting etc. to get a game, a manual and a box for their collection of 700+ games. I'm not jealous or anything, more power to those guys, but if its in a box, not being played, what is the point?

What is the point of any collection? Forget the fact that some of these collections can be "used". Some people "just" like to collect stuff.
If it's literally a "collection", then it makes sense to want the shrink wrapped version.
If you can have a mint condition trading card or a scruffy scratched one, which one would you rather have?
If you buy a video/board game just to be a part of a collection obviously you'd want the shrink wrapped one which offers better protection.
