So I been planning on the biggest Heroquest Night I have hosted ever. I found many heroes online and have 7 others wanting to play. Me as the GM I have to make something good. The only issue I am having when finishing my custom map and quest is balancing everything. The additional heroes along with the original is a Cleric ( 2A2D4BP & 3 spells mostly healing and buffs), Amazon (1A2D5BP,) Paladin (2A3D7BP), Hobbit(thief 1A2D5BP has the ability Sprint-roll 3 movement dice but then unable to attack after). What are some tricks or things you have done to balance the game with additional heroes?? If I make each monster stronger how would I do that? By that I mean how many BP points ATT points DEF points etc? or if I use more monseters how many per room? Is there a equation for this like for every 1 skeleton = 2 additional goblins ?? I dont know I am lost. :dwarf: :dwarf: :dwarf: :geek:

hello
my first post here
might be a bit late to help but..
too help balance a game [I am often facing six seasoned heros]
one the undead reanimation rules are a simple step, have a chaos warrior as wondering monster, an elite chaos theme can allow you to upgrade them a little.
When planning its best to have too much than too little, you can always underplay a few moves; those glory seeking goblins are always getting in the way!
then to balance things have a couple of potions to be found on benches or in cupboards, if the heros are doing well give pot of speed if your elite troops are living up to their reputation give a healing potion.
With big groups its also good to split the group up so good use of falling block traps, the revolving room if you have it and a neat trick, remember the cupboard with potion in how about one that flips round and puts them in the next room on their own.....
I love when a plan comes togehter

Even later, but if you still plan on playing larger games, you may be interested in this topic for a balancing system. It changes the turn order rather than altering the monsters.
