Tokens for gold?

Hi,

I was curious what tokens, if any, people use for the gold. I've found that if you have multiple people playing as the heros it's kinda fun to have token for them to use for gold. Originally I used some Dominion tokens, but as you can imagine that failed real fast. Then we just used standard US coinage (pennies, nickels, dimes) for different denominations. That's functional, but you can "feel" the real world oozing out from those coins.

Ideally, I'd like some dime-sized metal tokens with different denoms. Any ideas? What do you use?

Every group I've ever played with simply wrote down the gold amounts. No one ever used physical representation for them.

Can sort metal HQ olde world coinage out if enough people are interested so it would make it cost effective to make a vulcanized rubber mould up ;)

As it stands, i use pencil and paper still. But now you mention it, i think real metal coins would make cold feel more valuable as a reward!

I have several coins from Dark World and WizKids' Pirates constructable strategy game. They are really good for drop items.

If I need players to mark coins, life, magic, ammo, etc., I would have them draw squares, noting each box by type. In the case of gold, the coin box would be sub-divided into increments of x1,000, x100, x10, and x1. I have them use some 1x and x5 tokens I found in an old, discarded Magi Nation Dual game set.

That is a great idea, something I have considered. When I used to own Dark World I used it's coins but I have since lost that game in a move.

There is always Campaign Coins. These are the Mercedes of game coinage, expensive, kind of pointless, but pretty!

The Toyota of choices would be to get you hands on some cheap Mardi Gras Doubloons. Gaudy, plastic, but works just fine.

I myself own Merchants and Marauders, so for me this is the free cardboard option, ie: my grandmother gave me her of Pinto.

I've looked into this. There's no easy answer. Campaign coins are neat, but they cost waaaaaaay too much.

Kev's Lounge has a lot of free game counters, including coins. |_P

Holy crap! Those campaign coins look really cool, but damn they're expensive! I actually have the cardboard coins from dark world...we've been using the flimsy plastic bins to hold the coins. Each player has one so its easy to keep things separated between games.

Too bad its all papercraft bullshit. Try cutting out a less than 1" circle from a piece of paper--even using a circle-cutting tool.

I don't have fancy junk like that. I do things the old fashion way...
