Welcome to the fray! I play about twice a month, as well--have been for almost two years now. Between then and the previous Quest? Maybe 18 years!

I havent played in over 20 years. I got the original game about 2 years ago and have been making a custom board since then using Hirst arts molds. I get great enjoyment making this and reading this forum. I plan on having a grand opening for my board when it's finished. Maybe in a year or two.

After at least a 15 year gap I am finally back to playing the game that started it all off for me... the fray in to the wonderful world of RPG's! My kids have grown up so fast and the games we had are a bit dated now so I thought I would try it with them and see what they think and so far they seem to like it. This in turn brought me to this very forum which has now turned it in to me writing a whole new rule book and everything!

Cheers! |_P |_P |_P

As I have mentioned elsewhere, it's been a lot of years (15?) since I have played. Mostly due to my ex-wife (again as mentioned previously), tossing ALL the cards from the game--including all four American expansions. She "Thought" it was just trash... Bad habit of grabbing whatever is in her way at the moment and tossing without looking very closely at what it is...*Sigh*...

Anyway, over the years I have collected tons of art and other goodies for reprinting all of the cards (lot's from this site of course). But, I have never tended to have the money on hand to reprint everything (don't currently have a printer)... I have priced it, it's not cheap even if I were to only print the vanilla cards it's expensive...

Now add to that-that I am a hopeless collector, so any cash that I do manage to squirrel away for gaming usually ends up going to newer games... Not that any of that is likely too be terribly interesting to you good folken, but it is the "Why" part of the equation at this point.

All of that said, I still harbor a very tender spot in my heart for HQ, (if not my Ex...*Chuckle*)... It was not my intro to gaming or anything, not even my first board game (Those would be D&D ca. 1977, and Magic Realm ca. 1979 respectively)...

But HQ, even more than Talisman which I also enjoyed, offered the RPG lite experience that allowed games with people of various gaming (and non) backgrounds and thus allowed for as much or little role-playing as the group liked.

It's one of the things that is missing with many of the current, if wonderful, games on the market today. Bottom line the simplicity of Hero Quest allows for incredibly easy teaching, and also nearly endless expansion.

Okay, so you folks know I love HQ even though I don't play currently. So why am I here?

Well, also as mentioned in other discussions, I followed the old Aginn's Inn site for many, many years without joining any of the various forum communities that sprang up around or in concert with it. Mostly to keep up with what the community was putting out in terms of art and ideas for expanding HQ. Always with the intent of jumping back in at "Some point."

Since then, I have joined in on the forum discussions here, initially I think it was with a mind to get access to some of the content reserved for members, but I quickly found that there were some good discussions going over here, and lot's of interesting ideas in general. Not to mention, of course, that other games are also discussed. All in all a devoted and engaged community, which I appreciate very much.

So yeah, another semi-regular lurker who does not actually play HQ anymore... Though I do still game with various other systems.

maj! = Klingon word for "Good". Used in the context of "I approve".

I finally picked up a HeroQuest collection a couple months ago (core game and all 4 US expansions - all expertly painted in crazy detail). I've started up a regular group that is playing through the scenarios in the main quest book right now. Only met twice but everyone is loving it and already have the next night lined up.

I'm also writing my own custom quest for them to run through after they finish the main 14. (I'll publish it on this site too once I'm done. The narrative is done, just need the get the boards and notes listed out properly)

I picked up the game because I wanted to have an easy-going dungeon plunge game to share with others and I'm thrilled that I get to break it out every few weeks. It wasn't hard to find players, lots of people are looking for a fun game to play, especially one that doesn't get too weighed down by rules and confusion.

Yep, I still play. Going to my brothers' for a couple of days after christmas when we will finish off the Karak Vlag quest pack. We pretty much play every summer and the odd occasion in between. We have been playing for many, many years. First the Euro version until we finished it all, and then the US version when I discovered it existed several year later, and we have been playing a huge sweeping campaign ever since! I love this game.
