As I have mentioned elsewhere, it's been a lot of years (15?) since I have played. Mostly due to my ex-wife (again as mentioned previously), tossing ALL the cards from the game--including all four American expansions. She "Thought" it was just trash... Bad habit of grabbing whatever is in her way at the moment and tossing without looking very closely at what it is...*Sigh*...
Anyway, over the years I have collected tons of art and other goodies for reprinting all of the cards (lot's from this site of course). But, I have never tended to have the money on hand to reprint everything (don't currently have a printer)... I have priced it, it's not cheap even if I were to only print the vanilla cards it's expensive...
Now add to that-that I am a hopeless collector, so any cash that I do manage to squirrel away for gaming usually ends up going to newer games... Not that any of that is likely too be terribly interesting to you good folken, but it is the "Why" part of the equation at this point.
All of that said, I still harbor a very tender spot in my heart for HQ, (if not my Ex...*Chuckle*)... It was not my intro to gaming or anything, not even my first board game (Those would be D&D ca. 1977, and Magic Realm ca. 1979 respectively)...
But HQ, even more than Talisman which I also enjoyed, offered the RPG lite experience that allowed games with people of various gaming (and non) backgrounds and thus allowed for as much or little role-playing as the group liked.
It's one of the things that is missing with many of the current, if wonderful, games on the market today. Bottom line the simplicity of Hero Quest allows for incredibly easy teaching, and also nearly endless expansion.
Okay, so you folks know I love HQ even though I don't play currently. So why am I here?
Well, also as mentioned in other discussions, I followed the old Aginn's Inn site for many, many years without joining any of the various forum communities that sprang up around or in concert with it. Mostly to keep up with what the community was putting out in terms of art and ideas for expanding HQ. Always with the intent of jumping back in at "Some point."
Since then, I have joined in on the forum discussions here, initially I think it was with a mind to get access to some of the content reserved for members, but I quickly found that there were some good discussions going over here, and lot's of interesting ideas in general. Not to mention, of course, that other games are also discussed. All in all a devoted and engaged community, which I appreciate very much.
So yeah, another semi-regular lurker who does not actually play HQ anymore... Though I do still game with various other systems.

maj! = Klingon word for "Good". Used in the context of "I approve".
