It says $126 and PRE-ORDER, giving the approximate availability date of Dec 15th (less than a week away as of this post). If it were me trying to get a copy, this is what I would choose! If they screw it up I can complain directly to them.
I agree. If you’re in the US/Canada or have someone you really know and trust to act as proxy, this is the best bet. If anything does go wrong, you can be directly in touch with the manufacturer.
If using a proxy, I strongly suggest ordering in your name, with your credit card, just using your proxy’s shipping address. A friend of mine acted as proxy and purchased for me with their credit card. It meant I have been locked out of all backer communication and Hasbro/Avalon Hill insists on treating my friend as the backer, even after both my proxy and I have been in personal contact with them, begging to include me instead of them on updates. Things like the questionnaire about the app, I just lost out on participating in, while my friend couldn’t care less about it. It’s a real shame. If Avalon Hill/Hasbro ever does anything special for backers, it will go to my friend, not to me. My friend even withdrew from the mailing list, so I don’t even get forwarded updates. It’s a real shame. They need to make a dedicated mailing list just for HeroQuest, and let everyone in the world who wants to be part of the hardcore base join it.

In most cases afterwards I was glad I didn't join the KS, but not this time. Ah well.
I hear you. At that stage, we only had digital mock-ups. I may misremember, but I don’t even think we got confirmation of the different-colored plastics until after the campaign ended, or close to the end. Communication was not looking good. Promised site updates never happened, and have still not happened. I understand the regret, but you shouldn’t beat yourself up about it at all; Hasbro/Avalon Hill really dropped the ball with communication.
I backed it, but I was nervous the entire year that I’d backed something that wasn’t going to deliver. If it hadn’t turned out well, backers would be feeling a lot of regret now, too. As is, there is a glaring misprint on one of the most premium Mythic tiles, errors in the quest books, and figures shipping poorly assembled, damaged boxes being packed and shipped, dice that weren’t molded/painted properly. Your skepticism was absolutely warranted.

I really wonder if it’s a combination of the pandemic/shipping crisis. There are so many things truly out of Hasbro’s control right now, that I don’t blame them completely. I just wish communication was better.
I hope the bad timing and confluence of unfortunate events doesn’t dampen the triumphant return of this classic, though. I hope once Hasbro has enough stock in place, there’s a renewed, aggressive ad campaign to draw new players to the game system. And I hope that happens by spring 2022, though with continuing logistics challenges and a resurging pandemic, I don’t know.

Different times.
I really hope it’s like this again very soon.
