With my old gaming group (that I hope to reconnect with once Covid is over) we played through the first three ATOH and used Phoenix's NA conversion stats and it went pretty well (lucky rolls made short work of them). The standard Ogre Warriors are comparable to the grey monsters from the game system:
Ogre Warrior (ATOH):
Move 6, Attack 5, Defend 5, Body 3, Mind 1
Chaos Warrior:
Move 7, Attack 4, Defend 4, Body 3, Mind 3
Gargoyle:
Move 6, Attack 4, Defend 5, Body 3, Mind 4
The rarer Champions, Chieftain and Lord are appropriately upgraded too. But I agree, 2 BP is a bit weak by NA standards for what are intended to be hardened roadblocks to your success.
Pretty solid, but you can see they are felled much more easily by Sleep, being less resistant to magic. The other special feature is that they block hallways (I would allow Veil of Mist/Skate/Dust to let you pass them, slide through the legs!).
The super Ogres will be an interesting experience. These guys are tough, no doubt about it, even though their defense is "only" 3 and their mind points 2. Plus they have the slow movement of mummies (4 squares).
This reminds me... much has been made about the Elf spell deck for the EQP seem disappointing to many. It includes a Deep Sleep spell which would allow the Wizard and the Elf to BOTH have a sleep type spell to use against these powerful (but low mind point) monsters. And if you saved the Spell Ring, that means potentially that's a double of one of those spells as well AND you have the opportunity for even more sleep if you find a Spell Scroll...
